Are your Sugar Bytes plug-in GUIs too small or don't fit your monitor screen size?

I have the same problem on a Samsung Ultrawide 49"; Aparillo seems to be stuck at some absurd scaling when used as a VST (works as expected as a stand-alone app). The Zoom-dropdown is broken, it only shows 100%, when it is obviously blown up quite a bit.

I am curious about this too. Such fantastic tools with so much innovation but for some, vector (or at least not blurry) GUI scaling is very important.

Ended up selling my Sugar Bytes plugins because it looks like they don't get updated very much. No VST3 support to this day, and no properly scaled GUI either... I will definitely buy again a few of them if they get refreshed sometime.

can't seem to find the about screen in Reaper and its scaled too large (control +/- doesn't work), and standalone looks fine, but about menu doesn't show up in windows standalone. win 10. sigh!
edit: this is for egoist, which i know isn't listed in this post list, but still is showing up zoomed within Reaper latest.

Sorry, never noticed your question. Yes!
From SB >>>>
-if you are familiar with the registry, send us the following entry.
To do this, press the "Windows" and the "R" key at the same time and enter 'regedit'.
- Press OK and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Sugar Bytes/Factory
There you can see which resize factor is set.
-It should be a 100 there. If not, you can open the entry with a double click, click on Decimal at Basis and make a 100 out of it.
- After adjusting the registry it's also essential to restart your computer to make the adjustment permanent.
And please do not touch the zoom menu in Factory afterwards, otherwise everything will get out of step.
Please note that it can revert back if you possibly use another DAW like for example Maschine or Komplete Kontrol and we are aware of this problem, which occurs only in very rare cases.

Any word on an update that isn't blurry?

I just bought Turnado.
Because I really couldn't imagine that the Interace wouldn't be scalable, I asked Aunt Google and ended up here.
What a bummer, I'm over 50 and my eyes just aren't cut out for this miniature GUI.
It's a shame because otherwise it's a great plugin.
Unfortunately I have to sell it again...

Sorry to hear that! Yes, unfortunately, in contrast to our latest products, a zoom function did not make it in Turnado, but in our latest Turnado installer from our homepage, we at least implemented a hidden zoom possibility. It's not perfect, but it may improve your current situation regarding monitor size, while we are working on a better solution:
To decrease the plug-in just click an empty area in Turnado's User Interface to bring it in focus and hold the Shift key down while clicking the Page Down key on your keyboard. To enlarge it hold Shift + Page up. Hope this helps!
Best,
Nadine

Hi Nadine, thank you for your tip
Oh dear, after I made the GUI a step bigger with your tip, I realized that it was a little too big for my monitor (1680 x 1050 PX).
When I wanted to make it smaller, that didn't work for some reason and I typed in the wrong direction several times, so that the GUI was huge and then suddenly disappeared. And unfortunately it has never appeared again, even after restarting my DAW (Ableton) and reinstalling Turnado....
Now I also tried to open the Plugin in Cubase, you can see the result (the black asparagus) in the attached Screenshot...
Regards
Markus

I'm really sorry for your experience and to hear that after adjusting the size it has completely lost its GUI now. This could have happened, if you possibly clicked the Shift+ Page key too often.Mjusick_73 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 3:35 pm the GUI was huge and then suddenly disappeared. Anyway, in case you're familiar with the registry, I think I have a workaround, which should hopefully solve the problem on your end. Please start the registry editor. Press the "Windows" and the "R" key at the same time and enter 'regedit'. Then press OK and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / SOFTWARE/Sugar Bytes/Turnado
There you can see which resize factor is set.
Open the resizefactor1 entry with a double click, click on Decimal at Basis and manually enter a higher/lower value for resizefactor1.Per default it's 100. Start with 120, if that is not enough try 130. This should force a higher zoom scale.
After adjusting the registry it's also essential to restart your computer to make the adjustment permanent!
Hope this helps! If not, maybe directly write to support@sugar-bytes.de and I'm sure we'll find a solution.
Sorry for the trouble!
Best,
Nadine

Hey, thank you very much for your quick reply and help!
Very good support!!
That worked for me!
Now at a value of 150 (I tried several values like suggested...) it has the perfect size!
Best regards
Markus!

Haven't used Effectrix for a while ( as I own all the others, except 2 ) but it was small. I was using 1.4.5. and read this about resizing, then downloaded the current 1.4.6 and tried it, but it doesn't seem to work with Effectrix yet.
Given that everyone is using massive screens now, it's important that we minimize eyestrain, especially when a lot of people that have been making music on computers and have now been squinting at screens for 20+ years.
It would be such a relief if VST devs made their GUIs resizable by default, to protect each of our varying degrees of visual acuity.
Sugar Bytes are my favourite developer. Please, make it happen.
edit -- I discovered that although CTRL and + doesnt work, shift and page down / page up does. However, there are only 2 sizes. The default is too small, and the other size is too large and half of the section with the master controls is cut off. If I could shrink it by another 10 or 15%, it would be spot on.

Hi 2NDMOUSE,
ok, if the shift and page down / page up workaround is not enough for now I think I have a workaround which could work for you. Therefore please start the registry editor. Press the "Windows" and the "R" key at the same time and enter 'regedit'.
Then press OK and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Sugar Bytes/Effectrix
There you can see which resize factor is set. Now open the entry with a double click, click on Decimal at Basis and and manually enter a lower value for resizefactor. Start with 120, if that is not enough try 140. This should force a higher zoom scale.
After adjusting the registry it's also essential to restart your computer to make the adjustment permanent.
This should hopefully fix it.
Anyway, we'll work on an easier solution.
Best,
Nadine

Just to let you know, here are my display settings. Everything is set at recommended values for my 49" screen.Sugar Bytes wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 11:07 am Anyway, we'll work on an easier solution.

As you can see, it's set at 150%. The next lowest setting is 125% which makes everything way too small and I have to use windows magnifier. This then causes problems as webpages load much slower and vst windows jump around and behave weirdly.
At 150%, it's a bit of a lottery as some plugins are ok, some are tiny, and some are so big they're off the screen, or I have to move the taskbar to the side just to be able to grab the drag bar to resize. I just wish every plugin had a drag handle and it became a standardized thing to be able to make it whatever size we need it to be.

How about for the Mac? I used Turnado with a 4K monitor and it's microscopic!!
I tried Shift+, Ctrl+, Cmd+, Option+, Shift (+up arrow), Ctrl (+up arrow), Cmd (+up arrow), Option (+up arrow) and nothing worked.
I guess in 2023 you "might" think about updating your software to something that's modern & useful? WTF?? I've never seen a company that has SO few updates in my life. People are selling your software because it can't be used. WAKE UP.
