I wondered the same, but then I thought it is probably because the GUI is now scalable. Previously it was not scalable and hence an option of "wide" view was provided.

You gotta get the beta version available on unfiltered audio web page. I strongly recommend to do so, you get the option to turn off the soft clipping, a button to lock the osc phase, bug fixes and the wide button

the latest version can be found via PA. the beta versions aren't there anymore.
it can, me thinks, installed via the plugin alliance manager, or certainly via the page of lion, version 1.1.3. the wide button isn't there anymore, because it is resizable....
but soft clipping (standard behavior of the first version of LION), resizable, more options, scrolling with mouse wheel through FX, and modulators (hold shift), etc.

Use the default "The Forms" OSC.

Route an ADSR Module to an LP12 filters Cutoff: Turn Drive off, dial down Cutoff to lowest (20.0Hz), and set Resonance to about 50% (50.1%).

On the ADSR Module: pull the decay curve down to the tightest slope (in the graphic display), crank the Amplitude to 100%, set Attack to the lowest (0.002), turn Decay down really low (about 0.061), turn Sustain off (0.000), and turn Release off (0.002).

To my ears, that's really plucky. If that's not doing it for you, post a link to an audio example of the kind of sound you are trying to get, so I can get a better Idea of what might be going on.
I just tried it again to confirm, but compared to what other synths can do for plucky sounds Lion sounds terrible. It sounds like there is some inherent attack in the ADSR in lion which kills the punchy-ness for me.

I must have posted the wrong link in my last post

here's some soundcloud demos someone did comparing the envelopes in Lion to Massive X. I don't have Massive X, but I am able to get these sounds with Surge, Alchemy, Thorn, and almost any other synth I play with. Not Lion though.
OK, I listened to the examples. I think I have a better idea what might be happening.. and have tried to mimic what Massive X is basically doing, within a Lion patch.

A couple things... Massive X's Saw OSC is much more modern (and digital sounding) than Lions "Simple Saw". Massive X's has a meatier sound overall with more overtones that help create that biting click you're hearing when you run it through a pluck-like Filter Envelope. I think Lion's is more geared to an older (flatter) analog sound. So, to compensate a little, I added an Auto Compressor and a 3-Band EQ, in Lion.

Also, Lions default Envelope "LP 12", creates a really audible, loud click (which I love) when routed through a plucky envelope. Pretty much every other Filter available in Lion does not have that clicking effect. So, I used "Ladder LP 12" in Lion instead, for my comparison patch.

I really think the envelopes in Lion are working just as well as any other VST synth. So I think what people might be hearing, is a difference in the quality and style of Lions OSC's and Filters.

Anyway.. I've linked to my example comparison below. It starts with the Massive X example, then plays my mimic patch.. then plays both at the same time, with the Massive X patch leading as the two drift apart.

Just got it and there's some nice options for creating sounds. The effects look very nice! I can think of a lot of feature requests though.

Anybody figure out a way to patch up a delayed LFO?

I've tried every module...

The closest I've come is patching a hard swept/slow attack ADSR to the LFO's Amp input. But even that lets a bit of signal through before it hits its peak, and starts the LFO too soon. Then thought I might be able to use an Exponent, Logic Mix or even a Comparitor along side that, to make it a hard on/off at a given threshold... but nope.

A Sequencer might work if it had a "One Shot" option, but they don't.

Seems like it should be a really simple thing to be able to do, but I'm out of ideas... :?

yes, a delay in the MOD section would be great
(same for BYOME and TRIAD)

I don't want to buy another synthesizer!
This is ridiculous!
15€ for Lion?
C'mon! It's the price of a pizza and a drink...
Do I really need another synthesizer? ...
You already own Triad and you love it so get the synth sibling!
Give up! Think about the oscillator section and the effects...
But there are some design flaws...
15€!!! 15!!! And you spare some carbs, alcohol, sugar and time.
Cook some nice vegetarian food, drink a glass of water smoke some weed and play with the Lion afterwards.
Be nice to yourself.
Just let it go...

For your information: I bought Lion a couple of minutes ago. And the exact price was 13,91€ :o :hyper: :hihi:
I went through more or less the same scenario. :tu: Although, you got it slightly cheaper than I. :hihi:
