I have Have 1.0 To get 2.0 I have buy the upgrade. Had I waited I would paying extra. I have no problems with buy and do. I’ve been producing with VSTs for 19 years. Talking to and supporting independent soft synth companies. One extra kind developer designed a sweet deep crunchy Bass patch and named it after my childhood dog companion. Urs has stood on some holier shoebox. Preaching fairness and never offering students discount but “celebrity” producers free. I ask support politely why this change and actually making me pay more because uhe prided itself on first in costumers. Some new guy in support just ripped into me from the very start of his email. No developers companies ever went to great lengths to make me feel so disgusting for wonder what’s up. I was about to buy the upgrade sure no worries. Just felt like asking if it’s true I loyal would pay more cause urs had some policy I’d remembered he used to go on about. So no upgrade for me simply because his support guy was a f**king asshole. Worst experience with customer support in any industry soft synth, hospitality, restaurants etc... ever. Unreal to be so nasty. They will get nothing from me. I help other people freely with electronic music advice and productions of their songs. It’s wack now I’m gonna go out of my way to tell people stay the f**k away from u-he. Weirdest customer support ever.

Well neither a student nor a celeb. Although infamous once I'm passed on no doubt.
Urs and uhe have always served me well. Got what I paid for. Had freebies and large discounts.
Maybe I was fortunate enough and just clicked in the right manner.

@Happy Frog: You mind if I post your answers to this?u-he support wrote: Hi [redacted],
Hive 2 is a major update and took us many many months to develop, and now that there's a
new commercial product, there's a price attached.
If we didn't ask for an upgrade price, then there'd be no point at all in developing a
product beyond version 1.
You've had the original Hive for over 4 years now, during which we never promised anyone
that they'll receive free lifetime upgrades for the product.
That means you did not purchase Hive 1 with the promise of a free upcoming major feature
upgrade.
I don't see how we're being unfair.
Charging an upgrade price so that people can use the new features and (hopefully) enjoy
the new presets is simply how business works.

Happy Frog seems a bit croaky.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I'm a bit surprised this wasn't all a fabrication/ troll. I can't imagine someone pulling up a keyboard and actually typing this out with sincere intention...

I think you'd quite like a subreddit called r/ChoosingBeggars, it's full of people like this
Honestly makes me kinda glad I don't run a B2C business
