Hi all. I'm new to Tracktion 7, so I apologise if this is common knowledge.
I have a basic piano roll inside a midi clip for a track. I wish to be able to save this specific track and then reuse it for other projects with all the notes present. I have tried 'Export -> Render to file' and selected MIDI file format. However, when I drag the saved MIDI file back into Tracktion 7 I don't get the piano roll notes or in fact, the correct audio of the track I wanted. Also the 'Render Track' option only gives WAV file format.
Any help in achieving this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

The usual cause of this is you have a plugin on the track that can "play" the midi notes, and that eats the output. Imagine the signal going from left to right, you need it to get to the far right, to be output to a file. If you have a VST on the track that generates sound, that "uses" the midi, and the output at the end of the track is actually audio, rather than midi. Does that make sense?
I don't have Tracktion 7 installed at the minute, but you have two options. Look for a settings called "Pass through plugins" in the render dialogue, and make sure that's *NOT* selected. The default is for it to be selected, you don't want that. That might work.
Alternatively, temporarily remove the plugin on the track that generates audio, and export or render the clip(s). You probably want to render the clip, rather than "Export -> render to a file" the whole track.
