In the interests of speeding up Device creation in MSF, and any Melda plugin with MPs, I 'd like to see an additional option in the MP drop-down menu: Quick Learn & Assign (or just Learn & Assign) as in the mockup below, either of which would be a REC mode that would create a new default knob to each parameter moved or clicked in the usual way (Click -> Move…-> click again to finish), so instead of adding new parameters to a single MP, this would assign each moved or touched parameter automatically to a new MP, ready for re-sorting, moving and grouping in the MP Manager.

Which MP numbers would be used?

Say i have already used 1-4 and 9-16 and want to assign 10 more?

I suppose this would start with the lowest open slot and add new ones in order from there. Or with a selected slot and move all those below it down as needed.

The idea is more about where to start with MP assignment than about adding new MPS to existing devices or assignments, kind of a "select 'em all and let the designer sort 'em out" starting point, after which these initial selections could be spread out in the Manager to create space for any new ones created with the other options for doing so. But in the usual Melda way, would be as open for using any way as wished rather than limited in some arbitrary way…

Maybe start from the MP whose context menu was clicked?

Why not? :)

I'd rather avoid this one for now, sorry. Seems a bit over the top and would encourage people to duplicate the edit screen into easy screen, which isn't exactly a good thing. You do like that though, I know :D .

Actually, in my case (and from what I've seen already in the Exchange), it's about why bother with Devices when they're so time consuming? I know all about how great they are, and always wish any sounds I come up with and really like weren't just GPresets. But the conversion process is a bit painful… It'd be great if at least the first steps were easy and fast!

And for me it's not at all about duplicating the edit screen; it's about making device presets with access to all the parameters that may turn out to be wanted, for which I'd much rather start out with a few too many MPs that are easily deleted, then have to puzzle over where to add more once a project is well underway.

Maybe not your preferred workflow, but surely anything that makes device building easier IS a good thing, no? Whether they meet the Factory requirements or not, or are built for just the builder's use and possible free exchange, or intended for more focused distribution, more devices means more content with which to entice future LE and Player users, right?

Actually that kills the whole point of devices. You are making easy screens of the internal stuff. The point of devices is providing lots of controls for the specific sound. So if you have a subbass, you have lots of ways to change it. But in way of accessing how it works, but by providing parameters, that are actually useful for that bass. This means one has to think about the specific sound. You are designing "synths in MSoundFactory", which doesn't make sense, since people can access the edit screen directly and understanding what that thing does is easier than looking at the easy screen. Also LE & Player users are not the point, on the contrary, you are basically trying to give them the full version :D .
