[MXXX] opening Presets window slows down mouse when it hovers over parent MXXX window

Hey Guys,
I wonder whether any of you had this problem and know how to get rid of it:

when I open MXXX (in Ableton) and then open Presets popup dialog then if I move mouse back over to MXXX window the mouse movement slows down to quarter of its normal speed! But it slows down ONLY when I hover the mouse over MXXX (parent window). Outside of that window (or over Presets window) it moves normally.

I cant figure out how to get rid of it and it does not happen always either. Sometimes (after I change focus between windows or do smth else) the mouse is back to normal behaviour. I could record video to show this if not clear. I often endup sweeping my mouse over whole desk few times to only move it few inches out of MXXX

Some tech details: My MacBookPro is scaled down to 1440x900 (retina) and my external Dell U2718Q is scaled down to 2560x1440 (from 4K). If I disconnect the external monitor and use only laptop all works fine. I tried different external monitor and the problem is the same. I tried to enable/disable "Retina Support" in MXXX settings but it made no difference. I run MXXX UI in Neon 100% Resize. If I omitted to report anything relevant please ask me!

Does it happen with the Presets in any other MeldaProduction plug-ins?

Let me double check tomorrow when I get to my laptop. From what I remember it is any popup window sitting above any base Melda window. And in any Melda plugin. But I will re-test and confirm tomorrow.

Also, try reducing the "Frames per second" value in [Settings]. Mine is at 60 here.

Ohh shoot! So I tried changing few settings (lowering rate, resetting window cache, ...) and none help. Using MUnison and opening Presets or Settings still had the same mouse issue. And then I tried to disable "GPU Acceleration Something(?)" option in the settings and now my Melda rendering is totally broken!! And I can't do anything. Neither undo my silly change. Here is what MUnison looks like after opening:

I can't get into settings. Is there a config file somewhere on disk (Mac) where I could undo it? All my Melda plugins render in the same super magnified way.

OK, I managed to fix that by disabling Scaling Down and switching my external monitor to full 4K resolution and then Melda windows rendered not-magnified and in Settings I could set "GPU acceleration" back to "Enabled".

So I can confirm that other Melda plugins and and any other pop up windows (eg Settings) lead to the same problem.

One other aspect of the bug: when I open popup window and hover over parent window the mouse slows down. But if I click the parent window (and give it focus) mouse resumes normal behaviour. And vice versa: focusing the popup window sagain lows down mouse too.

Just to be clear, when I said "I managed to fix that" I was referring only to the super magnified UI. The slow mouse issue I still have.

Hmmm, that's odd. The magnifying thing probably won't be possible to fix I'm afraid - you are using different HDPI on each monitor, so the plugins just take one. We are sort of tricking OSX to get the actual resolution (since OSX simply wastes the pixels to get nicer image, but not providing the pixels themselves to the apps) and this is probably impossible to do. Anyways try disabling the "Enable HDPI support" in Settings (I'm not sure if it is on OSX though)

But when it comes to the mouse slowing down, there I have no idea, never heard of such a thing and technically the plugins really don't do anything with mouse, they just accept information about what the mouse does. Does it do that on both displays? What happens when you disconnect the external display?

Thanks Vojta, I appreciate you took time to look into this. Magnifying issue is not a problem for me - I won't disable acceleration ever again and Im sweet.

As far as the mouse goes here are few observations/experiments I did. Maybe some of them will help narrowing the problem down:
* if I disconnect external monitor then everything works fine - no glitch in mouse behaviour
* if I connect external monitor and run ableton + mxxx all on laptop screen the mouse misbehaves (Mxx always opens on external monitor though and I have to move it to the laptop screen so perhaps upon opening it grabs some settings from the external monitor??)
* one thing I noticed is that mouse cursor gets bigger whenever I move it over Melda screens - tiny bit bigger but noticeable. Well there are few nuances (which may or may not be relevant): for example if I open MXXX and Presets and then click MXXX to give it focus then mouse gets slightly bigger ONLY when I hover over primary focused MXXX window; and it is normal size when over Presets window. If Presets window has focus then both windows make the mouse pointer bigger.
* previous point made me google this and I stumbled over https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/303793 which says: try to make your mouse (in Accessibility OS settings) normal size. My mouse was normal and here is weird thing: if I make my mouse one step bigger then my mouse slow-down is gone and everything works (well on Melda windows; according to that link my mouse may have troubles in other apps). Mouse pointer still gets a bit bigger though when over Melda windows.
Could any of this shed some light on what might be the cause?

It is weird that nobody else from Melda Mac customers would report this before. Well, I kind of put up with that for a while too but now when I've purchased mxxx and mdrummer and Im using them more often the mouse slowdown gets tiring after a while

Hmmm, weird, to be honest, I'd blame Apple for this. As I said, the plugins don't really "drive the mouse" anyhow, they only wait for info about what the user did. And the fact that if you increase the cursor size a bit makes this gone kind of speaks for itself. I think this may be something related to some settings of the views in the plugins, but the problem is, this is 99% bug in OSX (and there are many of those...), which is pretty much impossible to narrow up. I'd recommend you to ask Apple, but we all know how much they care, so it would be a waste of your time. So, how about simply making the cursor a bit bigger? Is that a problem?

I hear you. It does kind of look like an OS issue. When I tried larger cursor shortly today it felt like it is not moving smoothly in other apps (Chrome). It was very subtle sensation of something being a bit off. I will give it another go and report back in week or two times. Cheers
