Continuous hi hat controller (midi cc4 - open,close,half-close etc) with MDrummer

I trigger MDrummer with an electric drum kit, and am thinking of upgrading to a continuous hi hat controller, rather than just on/off (open/close)
Is MDrummer able to receive and understand different hi hat positions?

I'm afraid not. I even think MIDI itself doesn't support it, though it will probably transmitted using some controller, hard to say.

CC#4 is the "traditional" way for e-drums to send out Hi-hat controlling info.
Hihat pedals in most electronic kits transmit a MIDI continuous controller (CC) in order to represent the position of the pedal between open and closed. A value of 0 means that the pedal is open (fully up). As the pedal is moved down, the value of the MIDI CC increases. The maximum possible value is 127.
Usually, MIDI CC #4 is used for this purpose, and this is the default setting for the Hihat MIDI CC in BFD3.

Interesting, I'll think of adding that, but I'm not sure how

Please do!
I love using MDrummer as a live sample player for my e-kit, the input Midi filter curve especially makes it 'feel' just right - along with layering samples triggered at different velocities.
The only thing missing (for this purpose) are the variations in the open hi-hat sounds.
If you are able to work on implementing it, please also consider 'transmuting', where the inital hi-hat hit is closed (or half open), and then the pedal opens wider during the decay.

That would be really difficult to do I'm afraid, just imagine the way the samples are used. We'll see. Anyways it's for later, no time now.

Just found this topic as I tried to use MDrummer with a roland HPD20 with HHat controller sending on CC4.
In the kits (I looked in the newest package) there are different hihat opening states. So the cc could be used to switch through them as in other Drum VSTs like BFD, Superior Drummer, SSD5 ...(others ?)
Would be great to use MDrummer in combination with e-drum modules

In the current MDrummer, Open Hihat can control the opening with "Mode".
By default, CC#4 is assigned to "Mode".
You can change it to whatever you like.

Hmmm... looks like a step in the right direction, but when I play Drums on an edrum set, Miditriggering MDrummer the hihat is on ONE Midi-Note. When the Hihat Pedal is pressed, the Hihat is closed, when the Pedal is released, the Hihat is open. Now inbetween released and pressed there are quarteropen, semiopen...
