Hi Guys,
I tried downloading the installer for this and it is an unsigned .app that requires gatekeeper to be bypassed and then asks for my password!
Is this normal or is there a proper signed .pkg file somewhere?

OSX gatekeeper is asking for your pw via the system preferences you have selected for signed/unsigned installations, not uncommon outside of the app store, so I guess that makes it "normal" on your system. You are not actually "bypassing" system security, just choosing how it should respond in this instance...hth.../s~

An app asking for your password is in no way safe, who knows what that app is doing with it!
That is why you use installation packages on OSX.
I guess there isn't one?

Actually I just checked the app is signed and comes back as no issue on gatekeeper.
Still unwilling to enter my password though so I will give it a miss.

...are you sure it's the installer asking for the password, and not system security? I have never had the actual installer ask for the system pw (never gonna happen), sometimes maybe for the developer/installer's pw though...

The installer is definitely asking for password, otherwise it cannot install the plugins 
. There's no difference between packages and an installer, you need to enter the password anyways. In packages you can now often survive with just finger check, but that's the same thing.
Btw. if it makes you happier - the dialog asking for password is Apple's, the installer simply asks OSX to ask the user to get it the rights to install. You can certainly just ignore that, but I doubt you'll end up with anything different than a lot of errors during the installation.
