SOmetimes I like to Alt Click an event to duplicate it and then move it into place, but I did this earlier, and I didn't quite move it far enough off the original MIDI clip and where I dropped it , it cut the original . Now in Cubase 9.5 and prior versions , when I did this is would just sit on top of other events and not cut them.

How can I get it back to that ?

Not 100% on your wording, but if you mean notes in the event are cut, it would follow the Preference Split MIDI Notes. Deactivate that in Editing/MIDI prefs for the other behavior, which is the notes inside that event are not cut but stick out, where you may need to re-set the boundary accordingly.

THanks, ive done that, hopefully it works, its not a major issue, its just not the way im used to working. But I can actually see with audio how it would be a benefit. . . lol

It actually wasn't MIDI Split notes, there is an option in Editing called "Delete Overlaps" cant recall seeing it before, anyway, that was causing it. All sorted now.
