MRhythmizer and midi gate/ducking trigger

I'd like to send midi notes alongside my kick drum to duck a sub-bass in response to the kick. I thought MRhythmizer might be able to do this but I need the sequence to start over every time I send a note to get this to work properly. Sequences in MRhythmizer run (by default at least) continuously.
Advanced Triggering options seemed like I might find a setting for the behavior I need but with all options (immediate, immediate single shot, next bar, next bar single shot) the sequence cycle still runs continuously.
Is there a setting or option somewhere I'm missing that will accomplish what I'd like to do?

No you are not missing anything. It simply doesn't retrigger with MIDI. Do you own any other Melda tools? There are quite a few other ways to do this.
You could use any Melda plugin that has modulators and a volume parameter. Simply set the modulator to envelope mode and enable MIDI retrigger. Then send MIDI to it.
I do wonder why don't you just do it the classic sidechain compressor way?

Thanks jmg8, yes I have the entire FX bundle and I'm looking for something appropriate for this now that you've made this suggestion.
As for why I'm not using the classic sidechain compression, I demo'd polyverse gatekeeper and tried midi triggering this way. It gave more precise control over volume shaping. I like gatekeeper but I'm trying not to buy anything I don't have to and figured there's probably a way to do this in my many Melda plugins. Truth be told I haven't taken advantage of modulation much so this will give me a chance to learn more about it.

You mean total FX? So you have MXXX right?
Anyway, here is settings for MXXX1, please copy this code and then click the paste button in MXXX1.
It will load up what you need, then save it as a preset for furter use.
Take a look in MOD1, you can edit the shape here, using the custom shape editor.
Now you have the basic concept, you could take it further. For example, I like to duck the high frequencies less than the low. So i would set up a crossover with volume after each output and then in the modulator use the ranges to decide how much ducking will occur in each band. I recomend using 6dB per octave slope on the crossover as it does not introduce any phase changes and as you are using this on sub bass, it's a good idea.
