dialing in specific values for parameters

In Diva, is there a way to dial in a specific value for a parameter? I know holding shift allows for finer adjustment, but sometimes I can't get it on an exact number.

Depending on what host you use (e.g. Logic is bad) you can click a parameter and then just type away and press enter. Unfortunately many hosts use the number keys for other things, then it doesn't work.

Or it works partially, like in Reaper, where you can type numbers but it doesn't respond to dot, minus or enter...
This really needs to be handled better (and actually work in all hosts)... Steal the whole keyboard while we type the value, please. Pretty much every plugin that has text input does exactly that.
