Proper way to stop/start DrumComposer on a track ?

What would be the proper way to start and stop DrumComposer within a track ? I'm using the on/off switch, first parameter of the 0..99 parameter range and automate it on a track. The problem is, at least with the Ray General Arc patch, is that upon getting the off signal DrumComposer will stop but will also emit a buzzing sound. Is this the proper way to stop and start the plugin ?

in the settings, use internal clock mode.
then trigger drumcomputer with the pattern keys.
now drumcomputer will play as long as a note in the pattern keys range is active. pattern keys should be midi note 0-16.
