Stupid question but once I have an edit I wish to burn to cd, how do I do it?
I am using musicmatch.

I know you export but when I try to open the file in musicmatch it says "does not support this format, check capabilities function"...HUH?

Did you make sure your files are 44.1 kHz and 16 Bit? I use MusicMatch too and regularly use it for converting originally Tracktion wave-Files into mp3s. No probs.

Post

You know you have to export the edit to a wav.. right?

Post

Yes, I have done all the above.

It must be something silly I am missing.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Here's how I do it:

1. Export as a .wav. I've been exporting staright to 44.1k, 16-bit, though I've been told recently that a higher resolution export followed by a proper "dither" will be a better idea.

2. Using either "Right-click MP3" or "dbPowerAmp" (both freeware programs), I simply right-click on the .wav file and convert it to MP3.

It's really quite straightforward-- but Tracktion cannot do it natively, so you'll have to use another program for converting .wav to .mp3

I don't understand... if you're burning to a CD, don't you want it to be WAV? Or do you mean a CD of MP3 files?

I'd recommend using something else to create an MP3 file, since it sounds like MusicMatch can't handle WAV files properly (there may be some proprietary data in the WAV which causes MusicMatch to balk, something another program might be able to handle or at least ignore.)

MusicMatch is perfectly able to handle wav-files. I use it for converting wav's to mp3 for years now without a hickup.

If money isn't an object (ha ha  ) you could look at Adobe Audition... which also provides an all round mastering option (as well as video support, better timestretching/looping than tracktion, professional level audio editing, etc).

The demo is fully functioning for 30 days, so you can use the demo to do a pile of mastering and burning, etc right now, if you have a backlog that needs sorting!! :)

One way to use Audition is as follows:

1. Export from Tracktion as a .wav file at 32-bit resolution.

2. Open 32-bit .wav in Audition

3. Master

4. Burn straight to CD within Audition itself

5. Or save as an mp3, or in any of the loads of formats offered.

OK so it costs £200 or so (from Amazon) but hey - if you want best results this one is worth ever penny (in fact it's a bargain when you look at the features it offeres, which would otherwise cost twice this price tag).
