Any help creating a lead similar to Cory Henry's Little Phatty in Billie Jean?

I can't get the cut and the tamed brightness at once. Maybe it's a Little Phatty thing, rather than a Mini Diva thing. Either way, it's really smooth.

Sounds like a couple of almost triangles (?) tuned 2 octaves apart, with some overdrive. Should be easy enough... keep trying
