I have been trying in MSF, with much frustration, to keep my global presets and my exported devices in sync. I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that this is a fool’s pursuit. So question:
Is there a consensus opinion that once you’ve exported a global preset, to modify it, from that point on you should only load the device, go into Edit, and re-export the device, and the global preset should be left on the scrap heap?
If this is a wise approach, wouldn’t a couple of warning dialogs be appropriate:
1. If you do a Replace to global presets something you initially loaded as a device, tell the user that’s probably a bad idea.
2. If you are exporting a device that you loaded from a global preset and that device already exists, tell the user that’s possibly a bad idea.
Thoughts?

I'm not sure if I understand completely, but I'm just making things and saving them as global presets. After I think everything is done I export it as a device. After that I throw away the global preset(I don't literally throw it away, but I consider it done). All further editing I do by exporting the device again. If I need a back up or something I'll just copy the device and move it someplace else. Trying to re-save it as a global preset doesn't really make sense to me, but maybe there is something I'm missing.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I concluded should be the way to go. Thanks for the confirmation.Chandlerhimself wrote: Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:41 am After I think everything is done I export it as a device. Correct! Devices are like the final products, for which the global presets are the "designers laboratory"
