I just purchased the Korg Wavestation plugin and when I try to use it with Waveform 10 on Windows 10, only a black windows is displayed when I insert the VST. The strange thing is that when I validate the plugin, I can see the GUI during the validation. Any ideas on how to address the problem? The plugin does pass validation.

I use this very vst under Windows 10 all the time with Waveform 10. Did you also download the standalone version of the Wavestation? Is that working for you? Not sure what's up with your vst, as it's been bulletproof for me (more so than the M1 vst, which under Tracktion 7 had a tendency to change patches randomly). And I gather your other vst instances are working fine, so it shouldn't be a graphics issue.
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

I was thinking it is a graphics/resolution issue since I ran into a very similar problem with the UI's on a few VSTs (not Wavestation). I thought it was the VST (Scaler). I had also extended my laptop monitor to another monitor. Not only was The UI on some VSTs black, they were either HUGE, or so small, I couldn't read what was on the screen.
Anyway, OP, I think this is worth trying. If you're able to get to Wavestation's settings, disable "dpi awareness." If it's already disabled, ENable it. There's also a setting within Traction. Also, you may want to try your computer's resolution settings. Windows insists on the highest resolution, so I changed, in Display Settings>Display and Layout to 300%.
After messing with my resolution, all my desktop icons were black as well- and, they all moved to my 2nd display. Anyway, if you have something similar, DON"T just delete the desktop shortcuts. Start here, I don't know the perfect solution: https://www.google.com/search?q=rebuild ... e&ie=UTF-8
There's a few threads here on dpi awareness. I didn't know it was a thing, until I ran into the same problem, and started googling. HTH.

The standalone works fine. Also, it works fine in Waveform 9. It works fine in Reaper, Ableton Live 10, and Cakewalk. It is just in Waveform 10 that I have a problem.Watchful wrote: Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:19 pm I use this very vst under Windows 10 all the time with Waveform 10. I found that if I minimize Waveform and then restore it, Wavestation displays correctly for the rest of the session. However, if I close Waveform and then reopen it, Wavestation is black until I minimize and restore Waveform. So I have found a work around but it is very weird.

That is weird. It's not happening to me, but that's zero consolation to you. Glad you have a workaround, though. I wonder if you've tried GuitarPlayerinNYC's suggestion.

Yes, I tried GuitarPlayerinNYC's suggestion. I actually had tried the DPI awareness settings before I posted here. It made no difference. I also tried different resolutions with the same result. May WF11 will be different, though it is not much to have to minimize and restore to get it to display properly.Watchful wrote: Sun Jan 26, 2020 2:15 am That is weird. I also had similar issues with VST-plugins. They used to lag, it was taking too long just to move any knob on some plugins, and also they used to crash and the DAW used to stop responding. What I did was:
* Right click on desktop
* Change the size of text, apps and other items to 100% (NOT 125% which is recommended by Windows)
After that I never had this issue.

I think by default, Windows optimizes resolution etc, by having things at its highest resolution, etc. The recommended size of text for me, is 250%. I had to go to 300% to see the icons on my toolbar. Also, when you go to Advanced settings, you have to "log out" basically reboot, for settings to take place.Sughosha wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:04 pm I also had similar issues with VST-plugins. In many instances, you have to drill down to an application's .exe file>properties, and deselect windows controlling the appearance of an app. When I first loaded EZDrummer 2, in standalone mode, the box was about 1" big, no kidding. After some googling, I found how to resize an app UI.
Within Waveform, especially if you extend to another monitor, things can get weird, because the resolution of the extended monitor, may not be the same as your primary monitor.
I haven't found a consistent way to deal with dpi awareness, but I've found if something is too big, or small, I delete, then reload the plugin, and it usually comes out good. On the VSTs where the plugin UI has the option to increase/decrease size in their options menu, my monitor resolution is a non-issue.
Things have settled down for me, but spending a hundred hours working this crap out, didn't make me a happy camper. More and more, I think computers are geared towards people being able to stream Netflix in SUPER HIGH DEFINITION. There's workarounds, but you have to dig for them. I feel like a computer tech half the time.
