Troubles with RePro mod wheel

Hey everyone, this is my first post here. I have a strange bug with repro mod wheel and can’t seem to figure what’s going on here so asking for your help.
I’ve recorded some chords with smooth cc1 modulation. Cc1 is controlling the filter cutoff (set in the mod matrix of the synth). However during playback I get random spikes in mod which result in filter jumps. This can clearly be heard as well as seen on the interface of the synth.
Both repro and cubase are latest versions. Nothing else is modulating the filter, midi learn page is blank. I’ve even disabled midi inputs on the track to make shure nothing is sending cc1 data except for the midi track so this is definitely not hardware related.
Here’s a short video showing the problem:

I don't actually hear any corresponding cutoff jumps. Just a graphics glitch?

Thanks for getting back! They’re definitely heard, it’s how I discovered the problem in the first place-by hearing it. The phone probably makes it hard to hear but they are definitely there!Howard wrote: Sat Feb 29, 2020 4:16 pm I don't actually hear any corresponding cutoff jumps. Just a graphics glitch?

Hi utopia_48,
would you be able to send me the Studio One project file so I can check it out on my machine?
That could be very helpful. Send it to support[at]u-he.com please.
And also include some additional info: What's your MIDI controller, what plugin format do you use, what platform do you work on.
Thanks
Viktor

What you experience is a quirk in the VST3 format itself, not a bug in our plugin.
As soon as you set a very high audio buffer size, like maybe 2048 samples, the automation of MIDI CC parameters like mod wheel or pitch bend will become very stepped/rough in VST3 plugins.
This isn't dependent on the host, and also not dependent on the plugin or plugin manufacturer, it's a general VST3 issue.
The effect can be somewhat tamed when setting the MIDI smoothing to slow in the plugin preferences.
Other manufacturers might use heavier internal smoothing of MIDI CC data, so it might not be as apparent with some other plugins.
But the only real solution is to either use VST2, or to lower the audio buffer size.
