Is there any free alternative like reastream-standalone.dll on Mac
something that will send audio/midi from one DAW to another
at least audio as midi can be sent other ways.
Until one day when there will be ReaPlugs for Mac.

You can use https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower I use it for stuff like that all the time. It's a LITTLE tricky to set up 'recording in one daw and playing back from the other,' but it's more tricky like 'you have to remember a couple things to do, first' as opposed to any real problems.

BlackHole is basically the new SoundFlower. It's awesome (and free!).

I know the OP asked for free, but Rogue Amoeba's Loopback is the professional-level version of these tools on Mac, if you want to take it up a notch from the free offerings. https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/.
Rogue Amoeba has been creating (and updating) their tools to manipulate Mac audio for decades. I am not affiliated with them, just a happy long term customer. They're running a coupon right now, "Everyone can now use the discount code SOCIALDISTANCING to receive 15% off at checkout."

Thanks I didn't make it clear that it needs to be a VST.
I use Sunflower but I didn't know about BlackHole will have to check that out.
So I need to be able to send a track or master track to another track in the DAW.
If I could use BlackHole/Sunflower to send the master from the app to the DAW in an aggregate device that might work.
But a VST would be best so if you think of any.

You probably can finagle what you need out of Kushview Element running as a VST, since it allows configurable outputs. Perhaps in combination with BlackHole or SoundFlower, etc.

It should be quite simple to route the output of the audio from one DAW to the input of another. Here's what one of the examples under "Usage applications" on the BlackHole page says:crossovercable wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 9:41 pm Thanks I didn't make it clear that it needs to be a VST.

Route Audio Between Applications
1. Set output driver to "BlackHole" in sending application
2. Output audio to any channel
3. Open receiving application and set input device to "BlackHole"
4. Input audio from the corresponding output channels

Thanks I have KV Element it's great, how do I set the audio output of the VST/AU to a hardware device rather than the host ?
Re:BlackHole
I just thought if I create an aggregate device I can have multiple inputs from BlackHole and other devices.

I apologize. I spend a lot of time with Element in standalone mode, and assumed there was similar degree of control of audio output as VST, but apparently not. Makes sense they'd defer to the DAW when in plugin mode. I love how Element in standalone can host Element as VST.crossovercable wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 11:37 pm Thanks I have KV Element it's great, how do I set the audio output of the VST/AU to a hardware device rather than the host ?
I'm stumped. If Audio Units are an option in lieu of VST, look into Apple's AUNetSend and AUNetReceive. They're part of core audio so should just be there as a plugin option in most DAWs on a Mac. https://aud1os.wordpress.com/2018/02/10 ... nd-receive

Thanks I think that will do the job but it shows up in Reaper in FX under AU but but not in the other application Band in a Box, so I don't know where the file location is for AUNetSend and AUNetReceive ??
Else I'll have to put https://github.com/vgorloff/VST3NetSend into a VST2 version of KV Element as there is no VST3 support for Biab.
EDIT: I found it as I only had it showing instrument AUi
EDIT: Works perfect thanks again !
