I've been hosting my various synths inside VIP reliably for a couple years (including Diva and ACE), but after updating both to the latest versions, switching multis in VIP to/from Diva or ACE will completely crash the program. For now I've had to revert back to Diva 1.4.1 and ACE 1.4.0 to get it working again. I'm aware you probably don't have access to Akai VIP to test this, so I can try to provide additional details if needed.
Plugin switching bug in newer Diva & ACE versions

I've run into a pretty nasty bug in my setup that only seems to exist in newer versions of Diva and ACE. The host I'm using is Akai VIP. I know that's an uncommon plugin host, but I can pinpoint the exact versions that this issue was introduced. (Diva 1.4.2 & ACE 1.4.1)

You're right, AKAI VIP is not part of our usual test routines.
I once had the demo installed, but once the demo period is over, one cannot run another demo session, not even with a newer version of the software, thus I currently cannot test the problem.
Diva's current version is 1.4.4, not 1.4.2.
If you did update straight from version 1.4.1 to 1.4.4, I could imagine the problem to be an installation issue (depending on which OS you are).
I think it would be best to contact our support via the online form or via email, so we can dive deeper into this and figure out how to solve it.
And if nothing helps, I can try to contact the guys at AKAI.

Thanks for the advice. I'll gather some info and fill out a bug report.

Hi,
I have the same problem and I have been doing further tests, looks like the problem is on all latest u-he plugins inside VIP as VST in Ableton.
The crash does happen when changing presets on latest versions of u-he plugins, see below from tests I carried out.
Diva
Version OK → Diva 1.4.1 (revision 4078)
Versions not OK → Diva 1.4.3 (revision 7325), Diva 1.4.3 (revision 7422), Diva 1.4.4 (revision 9709)
ACE
Version OK → ACE 1.4 (revision 3898)
Versions not OK → ACE 1.4.1 (revision 9709)
Zebra
Version OK → Zebra 2.7.2 (revision 3898)
Versions not OK → Zebra2 2.9.1 (revision 9709), Zebra 2.9 (revision 9436), Zebra 2.8 (revision 7422), Zebra 2.8 (revision 7325)
Repro
Version OK → No working versions
Versions not OK → Repro 1.1.1 (revision 9669), Repro 1.1 (revision 6794), Repro-1 1.0 (revision 5332)
By the way I reported the issue to Akai.

We could confirm the crash.
Our plugins are looking for a host transport state message, and it seems that AKAI VIP is sending some unusual response to this, which is causing the crash.
You can still load u-he presets, this won't cause problems.
But trying to load Multis will result in a crash.

Personally, VIP is an essential part of my workflow; but I also can't live without my u-he synths, so I rolled back my versions of Diva to 1.4.1 and ACE to 1.4.0. I won't get any of the new improvements, but at least I can jam with Diva & ACE without everything crashing.
