M8.5.0 is available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/beta/

What's changed:
  • Improved "Plug-In Slot" module:
    * Can now be used in PolySynth too.
    * Option to integrate the parameters into the Plug-In Slot editor, also in the front panel.
    * Option to limit the choice to a relevant subset.
  • The filter sections in MuSynth, MuSampla and MultiSampla have been upgraded to a plug slot which gives many more creative options.
  • The filter section in MuVerb has been upgraded to a plug slot which gives many more creative options, including using a MUX or VST plug-in as Pre-Reverb DSP.
  • The MuEcho and MuVerb devices now are fully editable MUX patches.
  • When playing notes via the Virtual MIDI Keyboard while also drawing a waveform could lead to hanging notes. Fixed.
  • Fixed a recent new bug regarding sending MIDI Clock out.
  • Some of the audio filters have been renamed.
  • Misc. small improvements.
How to update:
Windows: Replace the current MuLab.exe and MuLab.ID by the new versions.
MacOS: Replace the current MuLab.app by the new version.

Just FYI, copied from the docs:

The Plug-in Slot module is for hosting another module/plugin. It's especially useful for integration into a MUX front panel where the front panel user can choose eg an audio processing module without having to dive into the modular area. It is the modular patch designer that sets up the Plug-In Slot inputs and outputs via right-click on the module in the modular area -> Setup Inputs/Outputs. Then whatever module is plugged in will be automatically be connected to the available inputs/outputs of the Plug-In Slot.

Per-voice distortion in MuSynth :o

Also really cool that MuVerb is now editable! I sense some fun times building my own reverb coming up!

Yeah man, right on :phones:

Indeed at first these M8.5 changes might seem a detail but they indeed have more impact than at first impression.

Thx for the juicy sounding video  :tu:

Updated to M8.5
When I try to load presets which used the old plug-in slot module I get the error: 'Couldn't load preset file'
Also, it refuses to load projects using the old presets 'Couldn't open project'
I can fix it by going back to mulab v8.4.19 and removing the plug-in slot modules from the old patches and re-saving them, they will then load, but I do have quite a lot of them.

Confirmed bug. It's when the plugin slot is on a front panel. Will be fixed very soon. Thx!

M8.5.1 is available in http://www.mutools.com/mulab/beta/

What's changed:
  • New "Initial Event Generator" module. This module is practical for MUX patches that need a first (note) event in order to work as expected, eg. to trigger a looped envelope.
  • Fixed a mismatch in the plugin popup list for a rack slot.
  • Fixed a load bug for pre M8.5 projects/MUX presets that have a plug slot on a front panel.
How to update:
Windows: Replace the current MuLab.exe and MuLab.ID by the new versions.
MacOS: Replace the current MuLab.app by the new version.

Thanks for the updates. :tu:
I don't see a beta for the 32 bit version, have you stopped releasing 32bit versions now?

Post

I wonder how many users are still using the 32 bit version. Please let me know.

Oh, just like in the Modular Feedback Delay module?? Noice!!

I Still use the 32bit version, but mainly for loading older projects which used 32bit vst synths.
Very rare to now use for any new project, so can always use older version of mulab for that.

New "Initial Event Generator" module.
Nice! :)

Still on the plug-in-slot module:
Thank you, older patches now load properly.

The module display on the front panel has margins parameters in its editor box. Problem is when opening the plug-in-slot Editor box for the first time after adding it to a front panel these parameters default to 999, creating a very large blank box on the front panel display. (took a while to work out what was happening there) The default ought to be Auto for these.

Interesting idea allowing to embed the parameters and display them on the front panel. When switching modules in the slot the parameters change in the display to suit, cool! :)

Hi Jo,
the new plug-in slot is a great idea and the initial event module is fantastic and a great solution, for example when using the multipoint ADSR in effects to give it the initial "hit" to run.
Besides, I can finally integrate my own modulations into Muverb. this is amazing.
Thanks a lot for this :-)

I'm on 32 bit too, as I run Win8-32 and do not want to reinstall.
In the very most cases there are no memory issues. The only problem I had was with Kontakt loading bigger sample amounts, but I worked around with jBridge 32-32bit. This assigns a new 2GB-RAM to Kontakt.

I see. Will be fixed. Thx.
