I was surprised (and not at all in a good way) to discover that none of the multi-samples in the MSF Essentials sample collection seemed to be looped. Taking one that I thought definitely should play for extended periods, the Cello sample set, I brought one of those .wav files up in Wave Lab, and, as expected, there was no loop defined. So, I defined one and saved the sample. To verify the sample now looped correctly, I loaded it into UVI Falcon, and it worked as expected. Going back to MSF, I tried it there and no looping was apparent.
Can this possibly the way things work in MSF or am I missing some setting?
Thanks.

I don't think the loop points are used really. Anyways either in the latest version or beta (?) the MSF should be able to extract metadata, not sure if you are asking about that.

I'm not sure if loop info is designated as metadata, but I suspect it is. That is, the .wav spec does not formally define looping, but there's a widely observed convention that many products from diverse developers seem to support. At least that's my understanding. Until now, I've never needed to think about it since anywhere I ever needed looping, it was there and worked.MeldaProduction wrote: Wed Apr 08, 2020 10:26 pm I don't think the loop points are used really. The encoding is pretty simple for single loops that play indefinitely. Supporting a single loop definition should be pretty easy (multiple loops that play a set number of repeats are possible, I believe, but I don't recall ever seeing them implemented). Looping support would be an absolute must-have if MSF is to be a serious competitor to the likes of Falcon and HALion.

Actually there IS a standard for that in WAV files and MSF should be able to load that when you import the sample (I'm not sure if it's new or beta though).
