Hi everyone,
I posted several times in this forum about a problem I had with Ableton Live. I could use Tracktion along with Reason without problems but whenever I tried to open Ableton Live, I received the message "Ableton Live has detected another rewire master application, you won't be able to use Live in master mode unless you close the other program etc."
I tried different versions of Live to solve the problem, including bundled versions I received with various hardware and some cracked full versions but could not solve the problem until last night. I unintendedly opened up a new track in an existing project in Tracktion and inserted a Rewire device as a plug-in. Then I selected Ableton Live from the device menu. "Start the editor" button does not work with Live, so I opened up Live manually, and it worked! Yes it was this simple, but nobody knew the trick to help me. I hope this will help other people who'd want to use the 2 sequencers together.
On the other hand, I got a new job in small a pro studio, where Cubase SX is being used as the primary application. As somebody else on this forum keeps asking (sorry don't remember the nick), a rewire slave mode would be very helpful to integrate my work on Tracktion with Cubase (or other applications of course).
I don't think this is a feature to wait for the release of Tracktion 2, but should be implemented to T 1 !
Rewire problem solved

It's unlikely to be in either. Not much need to slave a sequencer to another sequencer for most people.
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

i know it is not necessary for most people. But for me (and probably many others) it is a good enough reason to be able to use 2 main sequencers together. Ableton Live 4 has the rewire slave mode, and audio and midi editing. So if you like to work on Live, you can finish a part of the song there, and pass it on to the other guy in the project, so he can finish the song in Cubase (or Pro Tools, or whatever).
It is much more painful to transfer songs between programs, exporting audio and midi files, etc, having to re-write automation and everything. Rewire is a wonderful protocol that makes everything work together, I just wish every program had a rewire mode for universal compatibility, just like the VST protocol...
