This happened after following a tut from Chandler guitar on youtube and he was using version 12...
simply put...he put a midi command on C3 which made Mdrummer play in sync with my project then created a song on the song page and hey presto..it's working :) non of this midi commands for each beat thing, I'm able to choose various different beats, loops , whatever press play and I'm off...
dunno why the tut on Melda's page explains it so badly..(for me anyways)
super piece of software..

To get MD tempo synced to DAW there's no need to enter any MIDI note... you just have to simply press play in DAW (just quickly then stop).
Song mode is great but it's designed to create a structure 'in the box' (for auditioning) and not to play along with a DAW project.
The problem is that when trying to trigger the MD song by playing DAW project, the timeline position cursor in MD song tab is in sync with the DAW position cursor.
Say you have a DAW project that starts at bar 2 with an 8 bar intro, then you want drums coming in at bar 10. You place your DAW cursor at bar 2, press play in DAW...MD immediately starts at bar 2 of its timeline (but you wanted MD to come in later on).
But you can of course create/edit in song mode, then drag the equivalent MIDI commands into DAW to the position you want.

Song mode is quite limited. I've never used it. I just put MIDI notes on the same track as MDrummer with each note corresponding to a pattern or fill. That's it. And then I had drum hits here and there such as cymbals, toms, by adding other notes on the same track using MIDI channel 10. That gives some flexibility.

Of course, all of those notes can be played from a MIDI keyboard. I 'play' fills and rhythm changes like that as other tracks are playing, each note triggers a new pattern or fill. No need to think about a MDrummer Song mode that has to follow the real song and evolves besides the real song. Then I switch the MIDI keyboard to channel 10, and add single percussion elements as the real song in the DAW plays.

Just got into the Generator recently, following a Chandler video. That's the other major aspect of MDrummer.

Hopefully in the not too distant future I'll achieve this level of ability with Mdrummer, I'm just a thick muso though and this computer stuff is a source of never ending confusion for me..LOL
