What on earth have I done now? Suddenly no midi data is reaching traction (it's certainly getting out of the Edirol cos FL's working fine) AND audio is not showing up on the level meters! Both midi and audio are set to output to the default audio output (my soundcard), the inputs for audio and midi are my soundcard and Edirol respectively..I haven't touched anything since it was all working perfectly last night. I dunno I really don't... :(

OK bit sad replying to my own post but I have now solved the audio problem, but no midi signals are reaching T. The midi input in the settings page is my Edirol and I have no problem in FL. This is causing stress!

Please any ideas anyone? :(

I'm assuming the Edirol is connected via USB not MIDI. USB can be finicky sometimes. Try this. Unplug the Edirol, reboot with it unplugged, then plug it in and let it reload the driver(s).

Anything else on your USB that might cause trouble?

Post

Oops, just read your 2nd post where you say you have no problems in FL. So that pretty much narrows it to T. Suggest you examine the Settings page carefully.

make sure you have not accidently turned e-to-e off...

e-to-e is on...I didn't think that would affect things anyway though. This is really odd, what with midi getting in FL but not T and the midi input for both is the same. Thanks for the suggestion all the same.

Sometimes MIDI inputs get shut down in Tracktion if they can't quite be initialized at the start. Or so it seems. Maybe check your settings page to see if that MIDI input has been disabled.

Congratulations on getting your pcr-30 to work via usb at all - I gave up with mine and just use its midi output!

No idea why it'd stop working - try creating a new empty edit to check it's not something to do with the routing, and try turning off all other midi inputs and outputs in case the drivers are conflicting with each other.

Also if you run FL it might have grabbed the midi inputs for itself, so check it's not still running in the background - restarting the computer's a good plan.

If none of that works, I've no idea.

So I guess Tracktion won't be bundled with any Edirol USB interfaces any time soon...?

I have tried everything you have suggested (apart from the midi leads)and none of it works! Just don't know where I go from here...no problems in Cubasis V2 circa 1999 either for goodness sake! I mean 90% of what I do is audio and that is fine, so do record my 10% of midi in FL or Cubasis and import it...what a pain. This is all very annoying - you know, I can't help thinking it's something dead simple. Is it a little strange that teh existing midi data rcorded a week ago is still in tack?

:help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

Bill, I've got the Edirol PCR 80 and it is working perfect with Traction, so I think you've missed something. I am by no means a MIDI expert and I suggest you reset your keyboard to the factory settings (mine is on them).

Go to the settings page and make sure that on MIDI DEVICES > 1:EDIROL PCR 1 is enabled! Also the MIDI INPUT of your sound card.

This is exactly my setup with Traction, PCR 80 on USB and TERRATEC DMX 6fire.

I hope this info would help a little to solve your problem :-)

Thanks for your kind reply. Before I reset my Edirol to the factory presets, I wonder why it is working perfectly still in FL Studio and Cubasis. Also, I am sure I haven't changed any settings on my Edirol since it stopped working in Tracktion.

In the settings page I have 1:EDIROL PCR1 ENABLED. I have just tried your suggestion of also enabling the MIDI INPUT of my Audiphile 2496. This means that 2 "sticky arrows" appear on the edit page. Still there is no midi data getting in.

I have the Audiophile's midi out as the default midi output. The more I think about this the more I think it must be down to a problem in Tracktion. Why would exactly the same set up work ok in 2 other hosts?

just to make sure... I was refering the e-to-e in the lower control panel when you select your midi-in, not e-to-e which sits near the transport. You may have checked this already, but I just wanted to clarify what I was talking about.

Yeah checked it all thanks :( The latest is that I have established that I can generate midi sounds by clicking on the piano roll next to a midi clip/ I can also input midi notes manually by drawing them in the grid with the pencil tool. So all is not lost, but I cannot use the Edirol at all - it registers absolutely nothing in T yet works perfectly in my other hosts!
