API 2500 in Presswerk?

Hey,

I need an API 2500. Is Presswerk coming close? What is your oppinion? Or should I better use Waves/UAD?

I don't know how authentic it is, though there is a patch name that includes the name API 2500 in my Presswerk. Probably a factory preset?

Presswerk is flexible enough to emulate many compression 'behaviors' incl the 2500 ... but if you really WANT a particular emulation, try some specific emulations like the ones you mentioned.. also, DMG Trackcomp 2 has a wonderful 2500 emulation, check it out as well. So, Presswerk here would be more flexible and the others would be more authentic maybe..

I second that
Dmg audio is as high quality as it gets ( Dave Gamble is really a legend , coded for focusrite , sonalkis etc ..)
At 150 euro trackcomp 2 is really a steal , it has all the most famous compressors under one hood , circuit modelled etc .
You get the
ssl buscomp , ssl track comp , ua 1176 , la2a , api 2500 etc..

if i didn't have so many of those from other companies i'd probably get TrackComp2 to complement Presswerk.

but presswerk has its own, very pleasant sound.

True to that , but the op asked for an API emu , presswerk is still presswerk ..
The now deprecated presswerk (vintage ) guis , (imho ) mislead people into believing that presswerk was able to emulate those compressors
It's still a great compressor nonetheless

yeah, it's an amazing compressor and imo does some things in its own way better than the EMUs. I.e. 1176 that Presswerk does is not really 1176ish since it doesn't have the signature "exponential" release, but it sounds much better than many 1176 EMUs when used in the same context.
