Midi latency and loading latency

So I bought patchwork and loaded up some eventide stuff to create a efx processor for my new synergy guitar preamp. I'm running a decent laptop with only patchwork on it and using a Motu M2 interface. My two issues are when using midi footswitch to change presets it's lagging, some presets just spinning and taking nearly 2 whole seconds to load. Anything I can do to speed that up? And secondly sometimes patchwork doesn't recognize the midi patch change at all till I press the footswitch a second time

Thank you for choosing PatchWork. If you experience loading latency, you might be using some plug-ins that take a lot of time to load.
Have you checked our tips to optimize presets to play live? The article was written for Axiom, but it definitely applies to PatchWork as well.
For the other issue, this is definitely not expected. Have you checked that the MIDI message is actually sent?
