MSF building synth optimisation

Hi,

I've started to think about building a synth. As you know there are multiple ways to do the same thing in MSF and I'm wondering if there is not a better way to achieve what I want.

For instance,
I wanted to make a knob that will change the osc shape. I did not find a way to change shapes within one osc generator using multi parameter. I had to create one osc for each shape that I wanted. I've seen that when you click right on an osc generator, you can save a bank of one osc setting. The problem with this method is that it will change not only the shape but all the parameters inside the osc.

Same thing for the merger. I've tried to change the side chain of a merger using multi parameter but it does not seem to work. I can work around the problem and create multiple instance of merger linked to all my side chain and by pass them when I don't need them.

I wonder if there is a better option because it will become quickly CPU heavy.

( by the way I've almost finished the second draft of the chosat library. I have to make it full mpe for each patch and design a GUI and it's ready to go. The synth that I'm talking about will be another approach of this thematic ( more synth based unlike this first library that is more advanced preset like.) ).

Check out the following little patch:
It consists of one Oscillator. Multiparamter 1 is routed to the Shape.
To make it bit more interessting I have set up the Multiparameter in Banks Mode.
Banks Mode let's me define an arbitrary number of banks and assign each bank an arbitrary value for the Multiparameter.
On the example I have choosen 4 banks and set 4 different values.

You can even have banks mode on the oscillator itself. If your intereste in how that works, let me know.

I've checked your proposition and indeed it works, but I forgot to mention that I want to use my own osc shapes with small alteration. I don't know if there is a way to add your shapes within the shapes already proposed.
Anyway I found in a thread, a way to dodge this problem by using a wavetable and a multiparameter in bank mode. I've tried and it works perfectly well.

However, I've not resolved the routing issue that i had with the merger yet !

Come on, think a bit in terms of modular synth.
When you want to narrow down n inputs to one output which is then source to your merger sidechain - what module can you use? Usually you would use a module stating with the letter "m" ... and ending in "ixer". All you have to do is find a way to set the volumes of the inputs so that only one is open and the others are closed. Can you find out how to to this, when I say that my last post might help you there?
I think can build this ... but it feels like doing someone elses homework

I've seen your post and thought that it should be a lead to the solution that I needed but I've answered this post before seeing yours. I'll look into this direction thank you.

In no way I'm looking for someone to do the work for me. Sometime I get too used to the fact that you can control almost everything in MSF, and when it doesn't work I could miss the obvious alternatives, I admit.

Also, it will do no harm to share tips and alternative from users somewhere, even the thing that seem basic. Because when using MSF I personally had more trouble dealing with small detail than when I was trying to do complex things.

Ho don't worry, I did not take it in a bad way at all ! It was something that I had in mind for quite a time now and I might do some videos about it when I'll have enough knowledge on MSF.

You can actually use banks to do this. Just save your settings as banks in the module, then add MPS for the settings you want to control(unison,detune,etc). Go back into the banks and add those MP numbers, so when you switch banks the MP settings are preserved. You should be be able to see how I do it in this video. I hope it helps.
