Hi team,
I'm really struggling to get python 3.6 going on my mac. I'm about to build a new pc and reset my macbook, so am I able to post where I get stuck and maybe get some advice?

Cheers

I dont know this toolkit specifically, and I may be missing something, but you'd only be using this in Python if you were, well basically, already using and developing in Python. If you've not got a working Python, then that sounds like you're not? And it is flagged as optional if you're not.

Anyways, Python 3.6 is seriously old, and support ends at the end of this year. Given the toolkit doesnt say anything about supporting the current Python, ie 3.8, I'd suggest you go with 3.7. The Toolkit documentation on installation specifically suggests you install Anaconda, which is 3.7 based, is there a reason you've not gone down that route?

Next thing would be paying specific attention to the environment variables, did you follow that carefully?

Hiya,
The plugins for the binaural rendering say they need python installed for the full effect, or perhaps its another element. I don't have it nearby at the moment. I will be installing the 3.7, but either way I tried conda before. I'm not sure why I wrote 3.6 earlier! I've been going with whatever the instructions say with the plugins.

I'll give it another go over the weekend and let you know exactly where it's going wrong. I seem to recall its to do with PATH settings, or similar.

it should be fairly straight forward.

what may probably happen is you will have two different binaries and executables. one will be python36 and the other python38 or whatever and there should be a default sym link that points to the one you want to use as your default.

I shall give this a go too, and report back. I feel like I tried this before but we shall see what occurs.

With homebrew you can also easily install pyenv, which makes it really convinient to install multiple python versions: https://realpython.com/intro-to-pyenv/
