Giving noise a key?

So i have this noise impact sound patch, some of you probably downloaded it, i started some other threads about it
I was wondering if it possible to give the white noise a key? Hear me out here haha..
So in the release section where the LPF is sync'd to a Saw Down 1/8 dotted LFO, is there a way to make the cutoff point move depending on what key is pressed? So a low note would send the cutoff position to nearest fundmental frequency and with some strong reso you almost get an 80s sounding tom kinda thing
Is that possible? If so how can i do it? Whats the best way?

That's called keytracking and yes it can be done.

Keytracking didn't work, I tried that already

Well, what you explained is exactly what keytracking filter cutoff would do...

Could you take a look at my patch for me and see where i went wrong because when i turn up the keytracking, nothing actually changes value wise when different keys are hit?EvilDragon wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2020 10:48 am Well, what you explained is exactly what keytracking filter cutoff would do...

if you aren't noticing any difference with key tracking, you likely have to turn the cutoff down to compensate.
you can check this working with a resonant high pass filter (this also shows why it's so helpful to have the cutoff freq being tuned in semitones).
e.g. put an oscillator through a 12dB hp vcf. set cutoff to 0, keyF to maximum, turn resonance up a bit. filter will be boosting the fundamental of each note. set cutoff to 12, filter boosts the second harmonic (which is an octave above fundamental). set cutoff to 19 (19 semitones = an octave and a fifth), filter boosts the third harmonic. etc etc
you can also use a modmap in key mode to tune individual keys.

This patch had no key follow enabled on your filters. When I turned it up to full on both your filters, key follow definitely works. The cutoff changes depending on the key. However, you are doing a full-range res sweep with an MSEG, and while your cutoff changes based on note, your res sweep does not.fifty1fifty wrote: Tue Aug 04, 2020 11:22 amHeres one of themThe unshushable Coktor wrote: Mon Aug 03, 2020 9:33 am Could you post the patch again here in this thread?

If you intend your res sweep to respond to the note value, you will probably need to combine the MSEG with one of the Key Follow modulator, using a Mod Mixer. You would modulate your resonance with the Mod Mixer, and then point the Mid Mixer at your Key Follow and MSEG modulators. Set the combine mode. Maybe set the constant. Adjust modulation ranges. It will take a lot of tweaking.
See the attached for an example of where you might want to start.
