Cubase issue
Direct offline processes fail by any of the following methods:
- right clicking the audio waveform and selecting processes or plug-ins in the project zone (tracks) or lower zone (editor)
- adding processes or plug-ins in the left zone process menu
- applying processes or plug-ins in the direct offline processing window (F7)

Direct offline processes include: envelope, fade in, fade out, gain, invert phase, normalize, pitch shift, remove DC offset, resample, reverse, silence, stereo flip, time stretch.

Solution
In the Steinberg Hub, accessed after initial Cubase startup or by clicking file -> new project, ensure the "Use Default Location" file path is set to a folder outside of the Cubase program files folder. For example:

This path causes the issue: H:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 10.5\Cubase Projects

This path works as normal: H:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase Projects

If the above solution does not work

Try starting in safe mode by simultaneously holding down the following keys immediately after clicking your Cubase shortcut: Ctrl/Cmd, Shift, Alt

Select "disable program preferences." If this fixes the issue, a custom preference may be causing the issue. You can try to identify it and fix it, or if you prefer to reset all custom preferences to default, start safe mode again and select "delete program preferences."
