Is it just me or has there been an ongoing increase of posts where the posters quite obviously just want to advertise and push their YouTube channels with clickbaity posts, like this
viewtopic.php?p=7876519
I cannot find anything in the forum rules that forbid such posts, but personally I consider those spam, especially if the poster has no real interest in engaging on the forum...

i think thats just the latest hip and trendy thing to do. have a YT channel and post vids. my 15 yr old kid does it. he makes rainbow 6 videos and sort of competes with this class buddies on who can get more view or likes. its just a thing.

Bit of an archaic list too... So that's a meh from me.

yeah for sure, theres a huge difference between someone who engages with a community and also offers vids or whatever...imrae wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:14 pm I don't mind people linking their videos as long as they put something valuable in the post text as well. But a drive-by link with a vague question is a bit rude.
than someone who, once past the spam filter, every post is a link.

It's no different than posting a link to a track you made tbh. Maybe it should all be put in one section as it's only going to get worse.

That's his name. It's good enough for me. I'm off to Beatport to get my next set of free beats.

Overall, is it that big a problem right now? There's been a certain amount of this kind of channel spamming going on for years. If people ignore it, the stuff will drop down the list pretty quickly even in some of the quieter subforums (just as long they don't get the idea to bump the threads).
Of course, you could all go and downvote the videos on YouTube: it does not please the people that make these videos. Not that I'm condoning that kind of thing. You ain't seen me, roight?

Well, for posting your own music there’s a specific forum. A dedicated forum for youtubers desperate to get views might be not a bad solution, easy to ignore that for us who are not interested.tehlord wrote: Thu Sep 03, 2020 12:36 pm It's no different than posting a link to a track you made tbh. If they're persistently just posting new threads per youchoob video, you could always ask a moderator to ask them nicely to keep it in one single thread.

Actually, here's a thought. We should have a dedicated YT forum, and that should be the only place people are allowed to link to and promote their YT videos and channels.
Anywhere else and their accounts get banned.
Seems fair. They've got somewhere to post their shite, and anyone who doesnt give a f**k about their latest 'How to tune your Drums to 432Hz' and suchlike has them all in one handy place they never have to look at again.
(Hell, maybe once a year we can have them Battle Royale it out for a chance to post in the useful Forums. Only real fatalities count, tho.)
