Should I use Tracktion for this? Or something else?

Have to do something quite simple, but i'm so physically exhausted I can't think straight (was up till 6am today working on a project to help my missus meet a deadline, in to my own work at 7am, and did a 12 hour shift - anyway ...)

Need to burn a cd of tunes, but some of them don't end properly, they're album tracks that mix into the next song. So I was thinking I would fade them out, and fade my own choice in, a bit of shite dj mixing, I suppose. But it's mainly northern soul and guitar-y based stuff that doesn't mix in the way clubby stuff would

So anyway, I guess I could just drop all the songs into audio tracks in Tracktion and do cross-fades, no? But I want to burn them so they come out as seperate tracks on the cd, not one big single audio track ...

So what to do? What package to use? Want to do it as quickly and easily as possible, it's to burn mini-cds to use as placeholders for me wedding. Each one will have someone's name on it, and a selection of tracks

Help! Please! I'm melting ...

Well, essentially you could just put all the songs on one track overlapping each other with fades on either side and just export the whole thing as a big long wave and then slice it up into separate file in just about any audio editor. Though you might hear a short gaps between each song, which would suck…. Or if you're using Nero, you can just set it to do automatic cross fades, which is rather simple.... It's up to you, though....

You shouldn't hear gaps between tracks if you do the large sliced audio file approach that NAD describes. Just ensure that your burner s/w has been set to zero gap between songs, and you burn as "disc at once".

It's as painful as you(r in-laws) make it - ho ho

Actually, it's not too bad, some of it's a lot of fun (choosing wines, the music, the holiday :) ) Some of it's less fun and there's a hell of a lot more than i thought to organise. 6 days to go, and shit loads still to do

But hey, none of the periphery matters anyway (apart from the music and the wine), so get down and enjoy it :)

Thanks for the help yesterday with this, brain was totally gone, but now managed a wee test pressing on 3 inch cd (capacity of 21 minutes). Here's what I'm going with, what d'ya think?

Soul Time - Shirley Ellis
Do I love you? (Indeed I do) - Frank Wilson
Just dropped in to see what condition my condition is in - Kenny Rodgers & the First Edition
Sister Golden Hair - America
On fire - Phoenix
Concrete Schoolyard - Jurassic 5
Just like heaven - The Cure (live at Glastonbury)

Supposed to be a cheery up cd to play loud on a sunny day. Surprised I got that many tracks on it, to be honest.

The cds are gonna be placeholders at the tables, with people's names written on them, and a design by a mate

Why am i posting this here? Brain must still be mushy
