So, as I dive deeper into Melda it looks like I can create my own units?
1. For example, could I create a transient designer with a convolution unit?
2. I've seen people post presets in the forum that look like a long line of code. How would one use that?

Using MSoundfactory or MXXX you can create very powerful synths or fx chains. a transient designer with convolution would just be as simple as selecting those two effects in mxxx.
If you copy the line of code someone has posted you can paste it into the plugin using a very small paste button located on the far right side of the plugin in the main toolbar. several people have posted nice photos of where this is if you search the forum here. Every black friday I am extremely tempted to buy too many plugins, and while I did get a couple this year, I kept finding myself thinking, melda can do this, melda can do this, melda can do this. lol now to find a good way to sell plugins....

The place to paste the text into is found under "toolbar". I messed up the screenshot I thought to provide you, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. The farthest right of the document like icons.
Be sure you're using a preset that is for the plugin you're attempting to open it in, thought mostly you can paste a preset from a lesser edition into a bigger version like for instance from the single band version of a plugin into the multiband version.
