Why, when I move my mouse over a bar in the melody editor, do the note lengths and sometimes positions, change?
If I want to move an eighth note it changes length when I move my mouse to the note.
Scanned the manual but can't find an explanation, or maybe I missed it.

Oh my, sorry no one responded..
when you hover a motive, it shows what the phrase is before any modifications are applied. When your mouse moves off, it shows what the phrase looks like with the transitions applied.
It is just a before and after view of the motive.

Sorry for the late answer. You can edit the original motive only, that is why all melodic transformations are removed temporarily when you hover the mouse over a motive.
Thanks,
