MspectralDynamicsLE Questions

I'm considering buying MSpectralDynamicsLE in the holiday sale.

Before I pull the trigger, I'd like to get the forum's word on a couple of things.

First is a more general question about the LE plug-ins. My understanding about the LE's is that they have everything "under the hood" that the main product has, with the exception of access to the Edit screen. That's fine with me for the most part, as I don't see myself delving as deeply into this one as some of the other plug-ins.

Can it still use presets from the main versions, and are those available from the Preset Exchange? Also, I do like as many ways of metering as I can get, especially with something like MSpectralDynamics, so I can see what it's doing. The photo on the page shows the main version, along with what looks like a spectrum analyzer. It would be nice to get an idea of the curve it's applying.

Next question is how it compares to Trackspacer. I already have Trackspacer and love it, but in the case of a special tool like it, I'd like another option, especially if it's capable of more. To stand alongside Trackspacer, it would have to be able to do what it does, which is provide an adjustable real-time sidechained ducking of many frequencies, and allow the bandwidth to be narrowed at the top and bottom. Trackspacer's display isn't a full spectrum analyzer, but it does show what's happening in real time. It's not just a level difference bar.

I'm looking for it to give me something in this function that I'm not getting with Trackspacer, even if it's just different rather than "better." The other cool things that it can do are icing on the cake. (I was hoping it might be able to do Gatey Watey, but Boz is still the only one I know of who's put that in a single plug-in).

Thanks for your input!

edit: I just reinstalled, and I see that there's something called "MSpectralDynamicsMini" in my list. It allows access to multiparameters and the spectrum analyzer display. Is this equivalent to MSPectralDynamics LE?

1) The presets should work, I think your ability to manipulate them is entirely dependent on if there's an easy screen for them. Most of them don't so rough answer is no..

2) There's a toggle for a spectrum analyzer built into the metering section but it's the scrolling one and doesn't show the difference between the input and proccessed signal like the one on the edit screen.

4) I have a MXXX device that works exactly like Trackspacer that I can post if you want it (minus the analyzer). IMO, MSD works much better than Trackspacer and has a lot more ways of dialing in the sound. Try the "Ducking" preset. The only difference is that there's no low / high pass "bandwidth" setting. But here's a modified version with the "bandwidth" settings added

5) I can make you a clone of Boz - Gatey Watey no problem, but you'd need MXXX Core to use it because it needs a crossover to work. Lmk

6) I don't think the "Mini" and "LE" versions are the same as "Mini" has access to edit screen

Hope that helps :)

It helps a great deal. Thanks so much.

It seems like the plug-in I really want is MSpectralDynamicsMini, but I see no way to purchase it separate from the main plug-in.

I'm going to get something before the 50% off everything sale ends, but maybe I'll have to wait on MSpectralDynamicsLE or Mini to see what the deal is.

I think that you would really want the full version to achieve exactly what you want.
With no edit screen, you're limited in controlling the exact frequency responses. In the full
version, you can precisely control the frequency response by drawing what you want in a graph.
Check out this video (I think around 5:50 in the video is most relevant to your needs)
