Opening .tracktionedit from a friend in Waveform Free does nothing?

A friend sent me a .trkarch, which Waveform Free opened and asked me to choose a folder to extract to. I did, then Waveform Free did nothing. I checked the folder I chose, and there was a .tracktionedit file there, with some other expected files. I tried closing Waveform Free and double clicking the .tracktionedit, but the only thing that happened was that Waveform Free opened, with no project/edit loaded.
I was able to open one of the demo projects in Waveform and move through it easily enough, but no luck on the file my friend sent me. The file he sent me was generated by the non-free version of Waveform, but the same version number (11.1.0).
I'm an entirely brand new user to Waveform, so I'm probably missing something obvious. Can anyone help?

Another thing to watch out for (once you have it open) is that you may not have the same VST's - both instruments and effects. You may have to map, say, "strings" to an appropriate patch you may have. Same with a drum kit, reverbs, and any other non-Waveform free things from the source system ...
If it's all audio recordings, you shouldn't have an issue, other than audio modifiers as above ...?

I tried opening it the way Kang suggested, but the dialog was looking for a .tracktion file, which the folder the .trkarch extracted to did not contain. It does have the .tracktionedit though, which apparently can't be opened in this Open Project dialog?

The .tracktion file is the file for the project. A .tracktionedit file is for an individual edit. I haven't used a .trkarch file for several versions, so I'm not sure, but... It looks like you can create an archive of projects and also edits. My guess would be your friend archived just an edit. Maybe you can create a new project and use the "Unpack an archive into the project..."
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

Had a similar issue after changing computers.
Managed to open these edits as they had been changed into .xml filers for some reason. Just removing the .xml extention solved it
