Reason Europa in Waveform

I really like the Europa synth in Reason and wanted to test how many different sounds from Reason you can have in a mix. I also wanted to see how flexible Europa is in making different types of sounds. Therefore I made a track with Europa for all sounds. I programmed a lot of sounds from scratch with J.M. Jarre's classic Oxygene in mind.
The lead melodies are played on my Berglund Instruments NuEVI wind controller (using a Europa sound). Europa works well with wind control. There are 18 different sounds in the track, so that means 18 instances of the Reason plugin running. This works without glitches on my rather modest Asus laptop. Note that some of the sounds are very complex. Listen to the choir sound, for instance. It's synthesized, not sampled! I had to turn sandboxing off in Waveform though. Otherwise it crackles. However, sandboxing is not needed, as the Reason plugin runs very stable.
I downloaded Waveform 11.5 and tested it there too. The CPU load is slightly higher than in Waveform 11.1 but it runs OK. It's close to the limit though.
All in all, I'm very impressed with the Reason plugin in general and with Europa in particular. I really love that you can easily go from the classic synth sounds to new and unique timbres. I also love how easy it is to create lush and thick sounds.

I'm using the VST version but that actually consists of a rack. In this I only load the Europa synth though.fde101 wrote: Thu Feb 18, 2021 11:23 am Out of curiosity, are you using the VST version of Europa, or are you embedding the Reason Rack and using Europa within the rack?

That's not what I'm referring to - there is a VST version of Europa that is not in a rack (it is independent of and does not require Reason): https://www.reasonstudios.com/press/275 ... on-the-webStuttaton wrote: Fri Feb 19, 2021 5:59 pm I'm using the VST version but that actually consists of a rack. I was just curious because I'm wondering how much of your CPU load is overhead from having multiple instances of the rack running as compared to using Europa directly within Waveform.

I didn't know there was a VST version of Europa. It doesn't seem to be available anymore. At least, I couldn't find it on their website.
The version I'm using is Reason Intro, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be available now either. So it's the rack version but the overhead seems to be low, as I can run 18 instances on a fairly modest laptop, without glitches in the sound, except very occasionally.

Interesting... evidently they discontinued it when they released the rack plugin:

I used the vocal cord wave for all three engines. Then I used the spectral filter in the vocal formant setting. Modwheel controlled engine 1-3 frequency, for wah-effect. Different unison settings for the three engines. Ladder LP 24 dB filter and only reverb in the effects section.Danilo Villanova wrote: Wed Jul 21, 2021 3:44 am yo, that choir sounds amazing!
