Hi all,
New to Tracktion Waveform. I have the free version running on Windows 10. I have the Alesis v49 MIDI sequencer.
In Audio Settings, the Test button produces a tone as expected.
In Project view, if I hit a key on the Alesis, I can see that my MIDI sequencer input is recognized (green bars on Track 1).
I have clicked the Record/Arm button on Track 1, which if I were in Ableton would be all that is necessary.
However, there is no sound through the speaker if I play a key on the Alesis. This makes no sense to me.
Thanks in advance for any help.

There's a dedicated Tracktion forum right here at KVR, which usually gets your question(s) answered right away.
You're likely not hearing anything in Waveform because your MIDI input isn't outputting to anything. You will need a VST or plug in loaded into the track so that the MIDI data going into the track plays an instrument sound of some kind.
VSTs/Plugins are loaded into the right side of the tracks (you can right click to load an instrument, or drag the |_+_> icon in the upper right corner to the right side of the desired track. This produces the menu for your plug in options.

Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and even Deezer, whatever the hell Deezer is.

@Watchful that was the missing piece. I'll try to find the Tracktion forum since finding decent free instrument plugins has proved another challenge.

Hello! I was looking at this post, and was wondering what plugin to use. Is it built-in to Waveform, or do I need a new plugin. If so, could you please link it? Thanks a ton!

Found the answer in a random post in the Tracktion Waveform section of KvrAudio:MusicMaker7 wrote: Fri Aug 30, 2024 12:32 pm Hello! I was looking at this post, and was wondering what plugin to use. Is it built-in to Waveform, or do I need a new plugin. If so, could you please link it?
And here's a link to the KvrAudio product database, preselected popular free instrument plugins for you:dajonaga wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2024 3:18 pm i.e. 4 built-in instruments = 4OSC, Micro Drum Sampler, Micro Sampler and Rompler.
On the left panel, if you go Search->Plugins->Name: Waveform, you'll see all included content.
