Weird MIDI edit issue Waveform 11 Free

This is WEIRD.

Create new project, new edit. Add MIDI clip to track.

Open MIDI editor, use pencil tool to create note.

On my machine, I get a note the whole clip long. WTF?

Worse, I can't get a resize handle on the end of the note, and changing the start and trying to move the note doesn't change the note end.

If I resize the clip, THE NOTE GROWS TO FILL THE LENGTH OF THE CLIP. AAAAIIIIEEEEEE!!! It's alive!

This is causing me Issues(tm).

I must have screwed something up - does anyone have any suggestions?

All help appreciated.

Windows 10, WF 11 free, latest update, 12GB RAM, Radeon video, Realtek sound chip.

Had you checked the note length in the MIDI toolbar? Maybe somehow it got set to 1000 beats or something ?

If you have a note selected and the Control Panel is in the larger "Actually Useful" mode, you can change the note's length.

A length of 0,1,000 is a quarter note and a good place to start.

Note that notes that are longer than the clip will look like they are just the length of the clip but when you make the clip longer, more of the note will show. In the example below, the top note is twice the length of the clip but it only shows as being half its true length.
