Hello, I hope all is well. It’s been a long road but in a couple weeks I’ll be graduating with my undergrad in Electrical Engineering. As I am passionate about synthesizers, I made sure to take as many signal processing classes that my department offered. With that said, I want to hopefully work in the field of DSP (with a focus on pro-audio, but beggars can’t be choosers.) That said, I want to ask the staff of U-he that actively browse/comment on these forums what their best advice for me would be to further this goal. I’m aware of the DSP forum here on KVR, however I am amazed by what U-he has been able to accomplish with synths like Bazille, Zebra 2 and Hive. They are incredible synths and I want to hear what they have to say about getting started in this field. Thank you.

Not speaking wrt DSP specifically, but, more generally, this is good advice for people wanting to break into a specific software field. I actually don't know if I have much advice atm. I thought about an answer a few times, but when I started out, times were rather different. Today everything is buried under the pandemic. We would love to hire talent, but we still do feel that there's stuff that doesn't translate through zoom meetings.
In any case, building plug-ins or Eurorack modules - collaboration or solo - is the most interesting thing one can do. As an example project, if someone wanted to apply for a job or convince money people, I'd prefer some "boring" VA synth or EQ over something that I can't understand. DSP classes at university are cool, but can't replace development skills. EE, maths of physics seem more interesting to me, but that's maybe just me.

Urs, thank you for the reply. I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to read my comment. Through comments like this, EvilDragon's comment and the nice people of the Surge Synth discord, I feel like I've been given a shove in a good direction.
