Is it possible to extend the start of a clip of takes?

This might be easier to explain with a scenario. Say I have a clip with 3 takes of a bass guitar part. I like take 2 but the very start of the transient is at the end of take 1. In Reaper, for example, I could just commit to take 2 and then extend the start of the clip to reveal and include the transient that was showing at the end of take 1.
