But it's not perfect. Getting into Repro / Diva territory is difficult. While I can do great analog type of sounds with Omni, Diva does it faster and more convincing. Going a genre like analog/FM techno with Omnisphere requires work. It can be done. But not as easy. But on the other hand, thanks to the built-in sample library, you can layer and add sound effects, ambient background noises and foley sounds that you cannot do with Diva/Repro.
Yep. Omnisphere scores 9/10 in my heart. So does Diva. :)
With 2.5+ updates Omni got better with the analog stuff and of course but Diva still has a different taste.

I can also recommend Anthology and Dark Mode for Omnisphere from Plughugger for sure.

Would definitely say its worth it even though the price is pretty steep,

However it can sometimes get a bit overwhelming looking around for different sounds.

Don't get me started

The browser in Omnisphere is both a blessing and a curse. As much as I admire Spectrasonics, the preset tagging is a nasty mess. Way too many tags and different sound makers tag up their sounds differently.

But finding soundsources is better though, and can often lead to happy accidents. One technique I find myself using quite often is that when I've finished a sound, I go to the soundsource browser and look what other similar sounds there are. I locate where the soundsource I used is, and cast a wider net by not using all the tags associated with it. Let's say I originally used a Prophet 5 Classic Saw (Synthesizers / Analog Tones / Prophet 5 / Analog). Then I back off a bit to find a bigger selection (Synthesizers / Analog Tones) and ask Omnisphere to randomize the order of the results. Then I start looking for alternatives - and often than not, I find something that fits the sound better within moments.

I'm not going out blindly though - that would be like trying to go on a road trip without a map or a plan

...and just a semi-regular reminder that OmniTag exists in the world to help clean up this very problem (disclaimer: I am biased - I helped develop it).

I've had Omnisphere since the beginning but now using a couple of these arguably more pristine sounding synths like Serum and Falcon or Icarus (at least for my taste right now), Omnisphere is sounding a bit cloudy to my ears and I don't like it nearly as much as I used to. I'm speaking strictly in terms of sound quality and not features. jmo.

Phug I've forgotten totally that "Similar Sounds". I yesterday searched 2 hours for "that perfect sound" and then settled on something...

Did not quite understand that. Would like to know. :)

I am enjoying your music by the way. :phones: The type of instrumental music I like to listen to. Great stuff. :tu:

Omnisphere has a sound match feature. It will provide a list of similar sounds based on your current patch. It can be quite useful.

Oh yes, thank you. That is a really useful feature indeed. :)

Omnisphere in everything I've heard - I have Trilian, since its release btb - has been a really lush sound, very saturated. a lot of it designed to where this is your mix, this is what everything else has to suit. I think it's obviously accomplished sound design but my taste is... pretty different than that. The synth things in Trilian, well all of it, is very thick in the midrange. Persing seems to want 'warmth' everywhere, seems to me. so for what it's made for it's the thing. Is it very modern, not my bailiwick to judge

It's definitely happening! Don't want to put a date on it, but work is well underway.

I think Omnisphere is uncomfortable, heavy and does not fit well into the mix .. Alchemy, in my opinion, is out of competition, I would gladly choose Alchemy, if it were not for the proprietary Logic. Since I am on a PC, in fact I am a user of Ni Komplete.

Anything can be made to fit in the mix though. Omnisphere is used by a lot of people all over the world without problem. However, it's not the best interface, but the content and sounds are huge.

Some of the comments here, um, stretch credulity a tad. The entire that an entire synth "does not fit well into a mix" seems hyperbolic at best.
