Bug with Panorama Crossover?

If I make a 3 band parnorama crossover, making band 2 a tiny section, just covering the 'center' area... If you solo band 2 you would expect the stereo width to be mostly mono... because it is only the center. However if you do that, you will notice that the stereo width is still very wide...

this makes me believe the panorama crossover isn't working as expected. The left and right sections work as expected, but the center is not actually the center for some reason.

To test this out copy this preset below into MXXX1 and play a stereo piece of music in it, then watch the width meter.

Thanks :)

(Copy paste the below into MXXX1)

I don't think it's a bug. I suspect it's just not working as you expect it to. The panorama multi-band option is a bit challenging to get your head around.

I explained this a while back (or at least tried to) here:

https://soundbytesmag.net/meldaproducti ... multiband/

Maybe that will help.

Thanks for passing that on. I admit I didn't understand your explanation. If center isn't sounds in the center (as in, mono) then what is it? I can't see how this crossover could be useful if the entire middle of the range is just everything, this is what my testing seems to show.

Do you mean the width meter of MXXX1? I think that's because it gets normalized before displaying. That's a confusing thing Melda plugins do by default.

I checked the behavior with the stereoscope and it seems ok.

The first image is the overall signal, and then we have left, center, right.

As you can see, that looks okay. The slopes just aren't very steep. If you need perfect mid/side separation, you can use the "LR to MS" module and then the "MS to LR" module on the side signal (I think. I haven't tested it)

As a bonus, here's an image of what the mid signal looks like in a normalized stereoscope. That's probably what you're seeing on the width meter.
