I'm having some issues with latency in devices I've created that don't always use all the modules. If I understand correctly, bypass still assigns them their latency if smart disable is engaged, so I'd definitely not want that.
I'm not seeing that option for them, though, so not clear if, the freeformphase module, for instance still uses the same latency when disabled. I get a latency shift when I disable the module instead, so I'm assuming that effectively stops assigning it latency, but not clear if there is still also some reason to bypass if it's already disengaged.
MXXX: Disable vs bypass for unused modules

Bypass bypasses the processing, but the smart bypass will still work and keep the latency intact. So if you want to automate anything, it's this one. Enable recalculates the entire grid and restarts the engine, updates the latency... If you want to permanently remove some module without deleting it, use this one.

Got it. Thanks. That's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure since latency is the thing killing my current project and I keep having to freeze and unfreeze tracks. Going through all the Melda plugs now to see whether I've optimized them properly.MeldaProduction wrote: Sun May 30, 2021 12:20 pm Bypass bypasses the processing, but the smart bypass will still work and keep the latency intact. QUESTION: I have quite a few romplers I've put together with a bunch of alternate versions of a sample in separate samplers where each has it's own tuning and level so they match for quick A/B to pick one. Do sampler modules add latency or take resources if not heard? In other words, if I have dozens of sampler modules that are active, but in lanes that are muted, should I go through and disable each sampler module except the one I'm actually using?

The engine cannot know that you are not going to unmute a certain sample (e.g. it can be modulated etc.), so if a sampler is not bypassed/disabled, it will be playing. It has nothing to do with latency though, not sure what you meant by that.
