Yes. Finally. One of my favorite waveshaper ever is back (at least for me since I went 64-bit long time ago) and better then ever. Thanks VoSLesha wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 3:35 pmhttps://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/20 ... -released/FerricTDS mkII released
New in version 2:
Available for Windows VST in 32 and 64bit as freeware.
- Introducing operating level calibration for better gainstaging and output volume compensated processing
Metering ballistics revised and aligned accordingly
Updated tape compression algorithms increasing punch, adding 2nd order harmonic processing, less IMDUpdated limiter algorithm featuring ADC style converter clipping
All non-linearities are running at higher sampling frequencies internally
Adding a sophisticated analog signal path emulation
A brief update on the future of Variety of Sound plugins

You can ask Herbert directly in the article commentsHalonmusic wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:27 pm great! does the new version of Ferric share the same ID as the old one?

Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) i believe. Its a good thinglegendCNCD wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:03 pm Has anyone checked aliasing on these

.. no, it's not IMD either. It takes at least two differentiating sine signals to properly test intermodulation distortion.. and it's not all that trivial to visualize either (at least I haven't found a tool to do it). Wish plugin doctor or other analysis tools had the mathematics built in and visualize all the possible "nodes" where these occur. But it very quickly becomes extremely messy and convoluted with even a tiny bit more complex signals.
That image shows just plain old harmonic distortion (you can see the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th harmonic in that picture) and the noise floor.

How do you move the frequency slider in such small increments? Hold down Alt or Shift or something? Why have I never tried that!

Note: Its not unusable at all with normal settings if you dont want to destroy and who would use LA for that?
