OS: Windows 10
MIDI Controller: Arturia Keylab Essential 49
This is probably a continuation of some of the previous issues with Keylabs documented in this old thread. I've not run across anything that contradicts the issues or fixes there: viewtopic.php?f=22&t=563790&p=8084817&h ... b#p8084817. I've also got a support ticket open with Tracktion but it's been three days since any update from them so I'll put this out for the community and maybe if any devs are monitoring.
Problem: The Keylab is unable to easily work with all DAW controls for Waveform. There's workarounds that can get past most issues (but not all at the same time) and maybe that can help with the troubleshooting.
Primary Issue: Faders do not control Volume plugins for tracks in DAW mode. If a fader passes through the volume setting it will briefly flicker to show the volume setting before going back to show the encoder (pan) setting on the keyboard display and the volume level will briefly, slightly change but go back to the original setting or maybe change by one value.
Steps to replicate:
- Keylab is set to "Mackie Control" DAW Mode and "Pickup" DAW Fader Mode
- Waveform has all four interfaces for the Keylab enabled in the MIDI Devices settings panel: the two "Arturia Keylab Essential 49" in and out as well as the two DAW control interfaces listed as "MIDIIN2" and "MIDIOUT2"
- Waveform has under the Control Surfaces settings panel the DAW control interfaces set to the Mackie Control Universal control surface (input device to "MIDIIN2" and output device to "MIDIOUT2")
Workaround 2: Set the DAW Fader Mode on the Keylab to "Jump". The faders work but as intended the volume setting will jump from whatever it is at to wherever the fader is once it's touched. Also, while the fader is moving the Keylab display flickers between the fader and encoder settings.
Secondary Issue: The DAW Command Center buttons on the Keylab are mapped to incorrect controls using the "Mackie Control Universal" configuration above. The toggling works fine and if MIDIOUT2 is set to the control surface the light shows the state of the Waveform setting. Here's the list with Keylab button -> Waveform setting
Save -> Automation Record
Undo -> Automation Playback
Punch -> Snap
Metro -> Autoscroll
Loop -> Click
FWIW the transport buttons, the page buttons, and the jog wheel work fine.
Thanks in advance for any consideration and assistance!
