I wanna make beats, with good drums, can the yamaha rm1x deliver, or should I set my sights higher

Are you using Tracktion or is this post in the wrong forum?
Why did you need two topics?
If you are using Tracktion you are perfectly capable of making beats with the included sampler. Get some samples (check the 'Samples, Sampling & Sample Libraries' -forum for free samples).
I sold my RM1X, it's a good tool for sequencing but the samples are not it's strongest point. You really don't need any HW-rhythmboxes these days, in my opinion software samplers have long beaten it's HW cousins. That is if you do not need to go the HW -route for live use etc.
