Some Tracktion wishes

Very nice software this. Inspirational to say the least. Neverthless, here are some thoughts on possible updates I would like to see in some form:
Send FX (not as rack filter): This would be very nice. E.g. Have 4 send fx slots somewhere where we can put the wanted send fx, then there could be a way to create routing/child instances of those FX on the tracks we want effected. This instance need have nothing more than a gain control.
Sampler: Some small updates like a pitch and decay/length knob for individual samples.
Delay Effect: A pan position setting for pushing the delay left or right
Piano roll: An option of using a step length of the users choice when working in the piano roll to avoid all that scrollwheel action.
That's all really. Most of these wishes have probably been brought up before.
I love Tracktion. I started making music with Scream Tracker, went on to Impulse Tracker, had a little Orion on the side and now I'm back on track with Tracktion.

For Sends that are not in a Rack Filter, you might want to give Senderella a try. This is a plug-in created by ModuLR, one of T's users.
Let me see if I can find it here...

While you're at it, check out his other tools. I love TackyWrapper, and some people have gotten extensive use out of StepChild. The Konstrux are a bit out of my league, but if you're a modular tinkerer, they look like they're shaping up to be great tools.
Oh, and he's got a pair of cool songs on there somewhere, too.

Definitely Senderella! (as Lunch Money mentioned) Beautifully simple and clean. I cant thank ModuLR enough for that little gem.Breakpete wrote:Very nice software this. Inspirational to say the least. Neverthless, here are some thoughts on possible updates I would like to see in some form:

Theres some freebies out there that have more options than the Tracktion Sampler. Such as Helios.Breakpete wrote: Sampler: Some small updates like a pitch and decay/length knob for individual samples.
Worth checking out if you need a quick sampler.
Try the Classic Delay. Its pretty dope.Breakpete wrote: Delay Effect: A pan position setting for pushing the delay left or right
Also you can wire the Tracktion Delay and a couple of vol/pan filters to do the same thing inside a rack filter.
Agreed. If optional.Breakpete wrote: Piano roll: An option of using a step length of the users choice when working in the piano roll to avoid all that scrollwheel action.

I'll be checking out Senderella, and also StepChild as I have a weak spot for stepsequencers. Would be nice if tools similar to these eventually can find their way into Tracktion though.
Can't believe I missed the Classic Delay, as I have all the other Classic effects and am a great fan of them. Instant download and install!
With regards to the sampler, I tried the Manytone 3S sampler yesterday (about as simple as they get), but it's a bit dated and wouldn't work in Tracktion.
Thanks guys!

Ok, I've just taken Senderella for a test drive, and the impressions are favourable. This is pretty much what I wanted. The only complaint is the amount of instances used in a large project.
If audio routing could be done a bit differently so that you could transmit audio on the same channel of multiple instances, you'd only need one receive instance in the Send FX track. This would have been the perfect approach, but it's quite good already!
Great job ModuLR!

Ye gods!
I was reading an old part of the manual when I tried it out instead of the stuff at the top
. It does indeed support this, and so is absolutely perfect.
Thanks for sorting me out!

An additional wish:
Option of displaying one of the filters inside a rack instead of the whole rack itself when you click/double click a rack icon in a track. Just to save some clicking, and it makes the rack filters more invisible after you have set them up.
E.g.: I currently use DR-008 wired up with 4 outputs inside a rack. Whenever I want to change a patch in DR-008, I have to first open the rack and then open DR-008. Imagine instead that I could specify somewhere that I wanted to view DR-008 instead of the whole rack when I click an instance of it in a track. If I wanted to view the whole rack again I could do it by pressing rhe "rack" button to open up the rack and change the setting.
Any thoughts?

good idea.
hey about the locking grid, I don't want to really spout on about stuff but in conversations with Jules, it sounds like he had no such plans to implement even a locking note length system- in my opinion i have no idea why not, but he did say he would think about it....
sigh
thats all i could get out of him. I'm more or less saddened.
