The exact same distortion has a much lower volume if you put it in the main upper grid compared to the FX grid.

Why is this?
Is there some automatic volume compensation going on?
I've been searching into the manual but couldn't find anything that would explain this.
Why does the Zebra distortion have a different volume depending on where you put it?

It's just a default OSC -> Distortion with like +10db of input. And then the one that sounds louder is exactly the same except that the distortion is in the FX grid instead.
Here's a patch. You only have to enable and disable the distortions so that only one is active at any time.
I'm on Zebra rev 12092.
