Unfiltered Audio SpecOps

Post

I’ve been trialing Unfiltered Audio’s SpecOps and am pretty darn impressed. I think I’m gonna use the 29.99 voucher on it.

https://www.plugin-alliance.com/en/prod ... ecops.html

Does anybody know of any SpecOps alternatives I should check out. This seems pretty unique but I’d like to check out the competition if there is any.

I’m also interested in your experience with this plugin is too.

you are already demoing Specops, and you are darn impressed. that is what a plugin must achieve, me thinks.

are there alternatives? spectral treatment, is very scattered. i call it treatment, that is my way, now. next week..

on topic! it is quite unique, although processing bins (the spectral 'buffer', or FFT result), as Specops does, can be found elsewhere, but scattered. but not with this particular workflow, i.e. all the settings.

it's workflow is quite unique, it has many capabilities. and of course the modulation capabilities..

there is no go to spectral effect plugin. isn't a problem.

i collect them, all that i can find, and are worth it.

SpecOps is totally worth it (it can be bought cheaper, but well, it is certainly worth this price.

it is a plugin that i use regularly, next to all other spectral effects. it keeps its use, more than; it keeps it's own character, it's own 'treatment' of sound.

i hope this is clear, because, i myself i have not an overview of all the spectral things i own... when need one, i know were to find it, very quickly, but couldn't make a list, by heart. but when i work, i know which one to choose....

and SpecOps has a big place in this collection.

as i said, scattered.

Thanks, I really appreciate the reply.

Played with it quite a bit more today and purchased it. This thing is cool. Now I’m just a few plugins shy of having all the UA plugs, some of my favorite creative effects along side the Freakshow and Eventide plugins. I might as well get Fault, Zip, and G8 next MegaSale. I really like the company so I’m happy to support them.

SpecOps is awesome. By far my favorite thing from UA.

I had a Synthesis Technology E520, which is a pretty impressive Eurorack spectral processor and delay among other things (there are multiple different algorithms), but wound up selling it because I found my favorite spectral algorithms on that module could be handled by SpecOps once I dug into it a bit deeper. (It's definitely not a 100% match -- E520 has some spectral looper stuff which is unique AFAIK -- but more than good enough for my purposes.)

i consider this plugin a gem, before i was using it for mangling beats but after that i began experimenting with different sound sources like pads and drones and found out that it is great for adding layers and textures to every sound you feed in
i love this plugin probably the most of all my plugins, probably because i also have permut8
it is on sale now at plugin-alliance for 30 bucks, a steal for this beautiful little thing

Totally !

but it eats up ALOTS of time to get it to know.
Even after all the time spent was i just like a plain beginner..

i had a E520 too. Same ! ...sold it, since i started to dive deeper ITB at that time. E520 has -to me- never been the big thing some modular folks wanted others make to believe.

I had with my E520 with the things i made even higher latencys than i "could" achive ITB, playing Bass roundtrip thru my PC. Of course would i normally have some higher latency ITB, but thats then cause i run there way bigger patches. Other things. Agreed, plugins would not directly replace a E520. You´ll end up elsewhere anyway. E520 might have its uses for guitarists, though. Since you can´t have the same manual play access as a guitarist. That plays here a role too

To me is SpecOps still one of the *Very Great* plugins out there.
BUT: should see a Mk-II. it should be refined to make it even more capable

"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

It's a very nice stable and flexible modular spectral processor. It does many of the most recognizable spectral effects and more. There's a few other great tools for spectral thresholding and side chaining out there, but (especially for 30 bucks) spec ops is great.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Also a huge fan of SpecOps. Of course would love to see "even more" algorithms / processes added, but that's just me being greedy.

Folks are alluding to other plugins in this area - other than the spectral filter in Aberrant DSP's Digitalis, I'm not really aware of anything else. Can you share names of plugins that are in this territory?

Mspectraldynamics, dtblkfx, obelisk, iris, alchemy, GRM tools (lots of their FX), MMorph, Mspectraldelay, a few more melda plugins I can't think of the names of, kilohearts filter table, tons of freeware, tons more free Pure Data and max based processors. Those are what I could think of that are still readily available.

Ah yes maim is really good

I do use Harmor and Icarus for resynthesis, and have demoed Halion for this as well which I guess is all somewhat spectral

Thanks for all the recs, I don't have any melda stuff yet but getting more curious by the year

Don't forget NI Molekular.

Don't forget Michael Norris's amazing suite of spectral thingies, that I still use regularly for extra wackiness and beauty:
